Letter Received about MYOBLOC

I received a letter in the mail today from Elan Pharmaceuticals, 800 Gateway Blvd, South San Francissco,CA 94080 about MYOBLOC, Botulinum Toxin type B. Why they sent me a letter I don't know why, maybe some of you all got one also.

It basically said that it was for people who had cerical dystonia also known as spasmodic torticlis, to reduce neck pain and allow for more normal head positioning. Blepharospasm was not mentioned.

It said that "If you begin therapy with MYOBLOC, you will also discover another important benefit: The "SOLUTIONS" Program - a patient support program specially created for patients who are receiving treatment with MYOBLOC. It talked about filling out a application which I did not get but it did list a phone number: 1-888-GO-1-CALL. It also listed a web site for MYOBLOC: www.MYOBLOC.com. It also stated that MYOBLOC is indicated for the treatment of patients with cervical dystonia to reduce neck pain and the severity of abnormal head position associated with cervical dystonia.

I will give this letter for my daughter (who knows more about computers than I do) to scann - than e-mail to me and "copy/paste" to the Bulletin Board. Hopefully we can do this tomorrow (Sunday).

Joyce in NC who has a date with her hubby of 47 years, we are going to watch a movie (rented) and eat popcorn.

Thanks for the information on Myobloc. It will be interesting to see results that people get and how they compare to Botox. It probably will take some time before dosages get figured out by the doctors.

Enjoy your date. We should all have more of them.

Shirley in AR. My hubby is watching Star Trek.

Joyce - I received the letter, too. I think I had visited the site and told them I would be interested in more information when it became available. It doesn't sound like anything yet for BEB, and I'm not too eager to be one of the first to try it. As long as my regular Botox is working fairly well, I think I'll wait a while! Mary, NY

Hey Colleen,
What doctor do you see there? I go to St.Louis to Barnes Jewish Hospital which is right next to Washington University. I see Dr. Joel Perlmutter. He does research over at Washington University. He travels back and forth a lot. I know that there are several neurologists is his clinic.

Colleen, I live in the Little Rock area. Middle of the state. It takes us about 7 hours to get to St.Louis. I have heard of Dr. Racette. I'm glad that you like him. I have never met him just know that he is in the same group. I go for my next botox injections on March 7th or Feb. 28 if Perlmutter gets back from Hong Kong early. I'm supposed to call them on the 21st to see if he is coming back early and if he is, Amy (his scheduler) said that she would get me in on the 28th.
We always go up and have a late afternoon appointment and then drive back the next day. We'll have to keep each other posted on when we are going to be there. It would be nice to meet you.

i just found out that the dystonia support group is having a speaker on the new myobloc. the doctor who oversees all the meetings just gave 7 patients their first round of it.
P.S. your date with your husband reminds me of when my husband takes me for a latte. he calls it a cheap date. but they sure taste good anyway.
