Botox Injections/Insurance

hello everyone,

I just had another set of injections done on 2-5. I have been taking them for approx 8 years now.

The county that I work for offers just one particular insurance company and that it, no choices or anything.

The doctor I have been going to all these years in not in the
"network" of this insurance company, which means until the deductible (very high when seeing an "out-of-network" doctor) I will have to pay the entire cost of the injections, which get to be very expensive.

Now of course, i could always change doctors, but I have been going to him for a long time and its hard to trust anyone with a needle around my eyes, alot of people don;t understand that, but that is how i feel, plus the fact that he has handled my case for the very beginning.

I was wondering if there were any supplemental insurances out there that would cover my injections. I usually end up getting injections approx. 2 times a year (down from 4 times a year!!!). And to date, i have never had any assistance from insurance in payment, I always seem to miss the calendar year or something.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice I would definitely be open to it!!!

Thank You

Peanut

Hi Peanut. How interesting to find another "Peanut". My nephew is also nicknamed Peanut.(Is that a nickname for you too) His real name is Michael. Today is his 27th birthday.

Hello Evelyn,

I got the nickname my rookie year on the Police Dept in my town. I was finishing up a wreck report in the ER of the hospital, when another officer asked "Are you ready to go yet Peanut?", with all of the EMS workers around, it was funny. Oddly enough the name stuck.

I wondered if anyone really knew my real name, they just called me Peanut.

Take Care

Peanut

Hi Peanut,
Interesting way to pick up a nickname. My nephew was born prematurly, and was therefore rather small at birth. He was given the nickname because of his size. We called him that for years.

Although I don't have an answer for your questions, I just want to say that I FULLY agree with you about not messing around with another doctor putting needles around you eyes. Stick with the one you trust!

Hi Peanut ... Welcome to the BB. I don't know how large a city you live in or what possible teaching hospitals, etc., you might be near. I am on Medicare, but also have a supplement through an HMO. Before Medicare, I was on this same HMO, with no other choice through my employer. At that time, there were no doctors "in network" who treated BEB, so I petitioned my HMO to give permission for me to go "out of network" at full coverage (minus my normal co-pay). My primary care physician helped me accomplish this by specifically referring me to the "out of network" doctor and stating that he was the only one available in the area. I was authorized to be treated by that doctor quite quickly and have had no problems with it since. You might check into going that route.
