Thanks to everyone

I was reading past post and remember how I felt when I was first diagnosed with this dreaded condition. I had a doctor whose only words to me were "this is for the rest of your life you will be getting botox"
no words of help or encouragement or medications which could help me. I left the office went into the bathroom next to the elevators and cried. Not knowing what would be of my life.
I searched the internet for quite sometime before I came upon this site. I know how new blephros feel like when they finally find others who can relate to the same problem.
I just want to thank everyone for giving me info on medication which could help and what to avoid.
My condition has improved so much that I am now at work.
I was diangosed last March of 2000 but I did not find this site until June 2000. Thanks to all of you who were there to give me words of encouragement and support. You really are a great bunch. You made a difference in my life I hope someday I can do the same for others.
with all my love to everyone and my best wishes.
Thanks again.

I can't believe the gall of your doctor! Where did he get his bedside manner training? University of Idiots? Shouldn't there be some kind of training in diplomacy and kindness before doctors are granted their MD? I had to learn about BEB 100% on my own. My doctor told me I had it and nothing else. Thanks to the net, I found this site immediately and learned all kinds of things I would have NEVER known if I had let it up to my doctor to tell me. Thank God for the net too! It sure has helped me! (I met my husband on America Online (he in IL and me in CA) and I never got married until I was 41!) OK that's my story and i'm stickin' to it!

At least not all doctors go to UI. I was very fortunate that the neuro-op I saw handed me both information on the BEBRF and the card of our regional rep who conducts support group meetings locally. There are informed doctors out there. Sometimes it just isn't easy to find them.

Priscilla, we've all met doctors (perhaps for other diseases as well as beb) who have treated us like that. I try to remember that a lot of them are no longer dedicated to their profession, are human (and that means some do not have bedside manners) - no excuses, but the facts I think. In all jobs we can find good and bad people working them. I diagnosed my own beb - read about it in a woman's mag. whilst in London, U.K. and went to the clinic there and picked up all the paperwork. My Canadian doc had never heard tell of this disease!

You're right about this bb being a great place, with great people - THANK THE LORD for them all.

Priscilla- you just brought tears to my eyes. My story is also similar and I just kept wondering if the doctor was wrong because I had never had anything to be major wrong with me. I got sick and went to the doctor and he gave me medicine and then everything was okay. I couldn't believe blepharospasm was going to be any different. I still have bad times when it comes time to get the botox injections again. I don't know what I would do if I didn't work and thank God, I can. I also thank God for this B. B. Board. It is my life-saver.
