I'll look for that article in Ladies Home Journal - I saw the post on the Dystonia board - I tried the link but it isn't there yet (March/April issue of New Age).

The article in the March/April New Age magazine (pg120)is about Beka Serdans, an RN in New York City, she has Dystonia.
"Her goal is to raise $3million in order to open a "center of excellence" in NYC,a facility to serve dystonia patients' medical, psychological and pharmaceutical needs, as well as to help them get Social Security and disability benefits, job retraining and in some cases, training in how to eat or dress themselves."
"So far she has raised $10,000 by speaking at dystonia symposiums around the country, through a Website she created (www.care4dystonia.org) and by donating book royalties to her foundation. She has also discussed treatments on NBC's Dateline. By putting a face on the illness, Serdans is helping to lift the stigma associated with a disorder that causes sufferers to have odd postures and movements". June, if you didn't mention the New Age magazine I would have never noticed the article. It's on the last page entitled:
Beka Serdans, Patient Advocate

Re that New Age mag - I couldn't get it at Chapters and I've never heard of it either (but that doesn't mean much!). There was a new age link posted on the dystonia board - but its only showing the Jan/Feb issue so far. I hope the current artlce was a good one on Beka Serdans - I hope to read it one day soon.June in Toronto

Your health food stores might sell the magazine.
Whatever is in quotes in my post were taken from the article.
I saw that it was not at the new age website.
There was not that much more. She did write a book called
"I'm moving two - a poetic journey with dystonia".
I was disapointed there was no mention of the article on the front
page, and like I said If I wasn't looking for it, I would not have
read it, the title mentioned nothing of dystonia.
It does show the title of her book, the "I'm moving two" is in big
print just under that it says "a poetic journey with dystonia" but it is in small print.
If you want you can email me with your email address and I can type
out the rest of the article for you.
