MYOBLOC Reimbursement

An Athena representative spoke to my support group last Sunday and he gave me the 1-888-GO1CALL number to find out about reimbursement for use of MYOBLOC to treat blepharospasm patients. The answer I was given was that for now Medicare and most insurance companies will not pay for off-label use of MYOBLOC since it is only approved on-label for Cervical Dystonia. It is possible that some exceptions may be made but it will require the physician making inquiries specific to your case. I just wanted everyone to be aware of this before getting treated and then later learning that you'll have to pay for it yourself. My understanding is that the cost will be for now, about the same as the BOTOX.

Nilda, Thanks for the info. There have been several questions about this on the bb. I was wondering about the cost. Good information to have.
Thanks again,
Shirley
