Re: Need a new doctor
Hi Diana, Welcome to the bulletin board. Looks like we kindof overlooked you. My apologies. I don't know any doctors in South Carolina but if you contact the BEBRF, they could give you some names of doctors in that area that are experienced with BEB and giving injections. You might also ask your doctor in New Jersey if he knows of nayone in that area. There are many good doctors out there but you do have to do a little shopping around. You can find the address and phone number to the foundation in the Welcome to Newcomers at the top of this page. Support groups are also listed under the "Main Pages", also at the top of this page. You could also check and see if there is a support group in that area and call their support leader and ask about doctors that he or she might know of.
I travel from Little Rock AR. to St.Louis, Missouri to see a movement disorder specialist there for my injections as I couldn't find anyone here locally that I was happy with.
We have some posters that are from the East coast and they might know of someone or email you privately.
It is always hard to leave a doctor that you are happy with.
How long have you had Blepharospasm and does the botox work well for you?
If you like, tell us a little about yourself. I'm 49 and was diagnosed about two years ago. I have had a problem with apraxia, also and just recently had an upper myectomy.
Again welcome and if you have any questions, ask away.Shirley in AR.
Re: Need a new doctor
Welcome to the BB, Diana. Sorry you have need to be here, but it's a good place to come with your problems, questions, and sense of humor. I know that we have a couple of people posting fairly often from North Carolina, but I can't recall seeing any from South Carolina. Hopefully, someone will respond to that question for you.I hope you will return often and tell us more about yourself if you are comfortable doing so. I am ancient (66) but young at heart and have been diagnosed BEB for about three years, after several years and doctors trying to find the answer. I live in North Idaho and am a retired school librarian/secretary. Sally in North Idaho
Re: Need a new doctor
Diana, alot of people with Beb sometimes come to Atlanta to have it treated. Maybe there are more doctors in that area now.
Re: Need a new doctor
Kathy,
Thanks for the suggestion regarding Atlanta. Do you know of any doctors there or a medical center with a good neurology department?
