Cancelled Appointments

Hi Everybody

Early Monday morning here (Western Australia) and I have just phoned my doctor to confirm my appointment for next Thursday. Guess what? Something more lucrative came up (he is operating) so the appointment has been pushed back another week!!! Hardly an emergency situation as it is planned almost a week ahead. I am already about a month overdue and this further delay just makes things twice as bad with the anger I am feeling right now. I was so angry that I rang for an appointment with the new ophthalmologist and got one for next Monday. I asked his receptionist how experienced he was treating Blepharospasm patients with Botox and she said "very" so I am hoping this is indeed the case.If all goes well, I am looking forward to telling the other doctor I won't be needing his services any more !!!!

Sorry to hear of your cancelled appointment. That can be so frustrating especially when you are in need of the botox. Will they have botox available at your appointment for next Monday. I know that when I was first diagnosed with BEB, I was told that the doctor would not give me the botox on a first office visit-that I would have to make another appointment and come back for that. I couldn't believe it and I was so desperate for some relief. Some doctors don't keep it on hand.

Hang in there. You can rant and rave all you want to with us. Don't cancel that other appointment until you've already seen this other doctor. I made the mistake of doing that once and another closer one didn't work out and then when I called back the day after I had cancelled, they said that he was going to be going on vacation and was already over booked and it would be another month. Can we say "UNHAPPY"?

Hi Shirley
Yes, I specifically asked if I could get the Botox at that time and the girl said "if I needed it" !! I will leave the Thursday appointment open just in case!

a good doctor and one that is experienced in treating BEB will know that once the Botox wears off, that's it; and is extremely painful to live with until you can get relief.
