first botox since surgery 11/00

I cannot keep up with this board. A few days of not logging on and it's filled pages and pages (well a little exaggeration)! On Saturday I had my first botox since surgery in November and I do believe it has made an improvement. I was very surprised to get only 20 units (pre-surgery it was 60 units that did not help at all). There were 3 injections over each eyebrow and one injection at the corner of each lower lid - and the pain was minimal!
On another subject -- I have received word that Mary Lou Thompson, President of BEBRF is going to speak at the Peoria (IL) support group meeting on October 27. Anyone who could make it is certainly welcome.
Cynthia in IL who can't keep up with the board -- but keep on keeping on!

Hi Cynthia, Sorry you missed the party. Glad to hear that your injections didn't hurt very much. Let us know how they work this time. Are you having any squeezing from your upper lids or just forehead and lower lids? I looked back at some of your post op comments and you had said that you had a problem with tearing for a while. How long did that last? I'm still having problems with it and I'm 3 months post-op. And the itching has come back with a Vengence.

I really can't tell where my "squeezing" is coming from. It's more like the "old spasms" which makes me very uncomfortable. As for the tearing I think I had that for 2 - 3 months or so. Benadryl helped it a lot as well as the itching. Did you ever try it?

Hi Cynthia,
I hate to hear that the squeezing feels like the old spasms. I hope that the botox relieves them. I don't notice any squeezing from my upper lids-maybe a little from my forehead but mostly my lower lids are pulling up, especially my right one. It seems to come and go throughout the day. The tearing and itching are what is driving me crazy right now. I'm 3 months post-op. I had always taken Benadryl prior to the surgery-50mg three to four times a day. After the surgery, I got it down to 25mg two or three times a day. I've started to increase it again to help with the itching and tearing but it surprisingly doesn't seem to have much effect on it. I'm back to taking 50mg three times a day. You'd think that I would be totally dried out but the tears just stream down my face.
I'm beginning to wish now that I hadn't agreed to have the upper tear ducts cauterized (closed). I have never had a dry eye problem but we discussed it before surgery and decided to do it as a preventative measure to counteract any dry eye conditions from the surgery. I'm giving some thought to having them re-opened. I'll wait a while longer before I jump into that. I'm a scaredy cat, anyway.

Thanks for the info. Sorry that you missed the party.
