Was the bb down for awhile?

Posted by Shirley-Arkansas-USA ® , Jul 20,2001,11:38   Archive
Was there a problem last evening with the bulletin board? I couldn't connect to the BEB or dystonia bb last night at all. I had horrible visions of not ever being able to see it again.
Anybody else have problems or know what the problem was?
Was there a glitch in the matrix? Judy or Bob, do you know what happened?

Shirley, I couldn't get anything on the board last night either. I could bring the board up but couldn't check any of the responses so decided to wait until later. I brought up a screen that said that there was a problem. That is scary thinking about not being able to see it again.

Same here but for short intervals. It was just out of commission for a long time last night.
Thought that I was going to have to take an extra Klonopin! Only kidding, folks. I'm not hooked quite that bad. :-0

i would be extremely upset if it ever permanently went down and was last week for that period of time. i rely on this thing as my only contact with those with this disorder, besides the newsletter.and have learned so much on it i can't say enough about it,

Connection problems ...

Shirley:

I was trying to log on around midnight PDT and could not connect with either our BB or the Dystonia BB which leads me to believe it may have been a server problem with Enteract.

An entertaining sight: one eye closed with my hand cupped over it to apply pressure to the cranial nerves throbbing around it and other spazzs going on whilst trying to do tunnel vision through the magnifying part of my Bi-focals since they were displaced with my hand under one side of them.

It's a good thing other's aren't looking :)

Have a good one,

Judy and all the paw prints

Thanks Judy for the info.
Sorry that you are having such a bad time. The things that we do to try to keep ourselves together and going. Sometimes when I look around my computer area and see my eye drops and mirror and wet washcloth and dry washcloth and magnifying glasses (an assortment) and Dr.Pepper and eye ointment, I wonder if it a computer station or something else.

If we were looking, we would understand and just love you for all that you do for us and marvel at how you get it done.

Thanks bunches for keeping us here so that we can share with each other.

Shirley

Hi Chris,
I think that you are right. I think that we are all more acutely aware of our own problems and feel like they must be blatantly obvious to all those around us when they really aren't. I always like it better when the people around me know that I have a problem and then I don't bother too much with trying to explain.

It's the neighbors that I have trouble dealing with. They know that I have this problem and I have told them that it is not going away and explained to them that I have good days and bad days. I've gotten to the point that I don't like to go out in my front yard as somebody is going to be out there working in their yard or something and they invariably rush over and ask how my eyes are doing and if they are any better. I tell them the same thing over and over. And they just look at me like "you poor pitiful thing". If I say that I am doing fine, they think that I have been cured. If I say that I'm having problems, they want to know specifics and then they start bringing over the desserts and meals and mowing our grass. They are really very nice people and want to help but I don't really know what to tell them to get them to just treat me normally.
I've tried different strategies but haven't found anything that really works for my neighbors. So I just try to avoid them and that's not right, either.

Hey Shirley,
Your neighbors sound nice. Maybe they would bring me somethng, especially desserts, that's my favorite. I'm only kidding. I usually don't say anything to most people about my eyes. All of my friends know I have a problem with my eyes, I'm sure they don't understand what it is or never even heard of it. I certainly never did a few years ago.
Sometimes I think most people don't really care & don't pay attention that your eyes are blinking or doing strange things. The problem with your neighbors sounds like a real challenge. They must care about you to bring you food and mow your grass. You are right though, avoiding them dosen't sound like the answer.
Billie in Kansas where it is still really hot & I don't care if my grass needs to be mowed. I'm trying to hold out for a cooler day.

I have a problem with being asked, rather frequently, "Are you cured now?" This particularly after someone has heard that I've just had shots and they are sure that has been a cure. I just try to pleasantly explain that there is no cure, that the injections are only a slight relief of SYMPTOMS for a short time, but it is something I can live with and try to work around. Some people understand, others are bewildered.

Shirley I had another thought about your neighbors, you might do wierd things in the yard, like grab non-existant things out of the air or pick imaginary bugs off of yourself, they might avoid you instead of the other way around. Actually when I mow, I sing to myself trying to keep my eyes open. My husband told me he didn't know if I was singing or talking to myself. (I do talk to myself on occasion, to keep my eyes open of course.) I guess on the bright side, at least your neighbors know you are there. Most of my neighbors work all day & some all evening. I used to know most of them pretty well, but the ones I knew have mostly moved, with different ones now. I'm not sure they would even bother to check if I didn't show up in the yard occasionally, probably wouldn't notice. Maybe I should try it just to see.

Billie, I like your way of thinking. Wonderful suggestions and quite humorous. I'd probably try some of them but I would start laughing and then they would know for sure that I am crazy. Besides that, the desserts really are good.

I just don't want to talk about it everytime I see them. Most of my immediate neighbors are retired or have at least one person home all the time.

Hi Shirley

Yes, same problem here. This is the first time I have not been able to connect. It seems to happen at times with any site.
