I have recently been experiencing twitching under my left eye. Does anyone have any symptom like this and, if so, any diagnosis.

I think we ALL have some symptoms like that! It could be (1) a nervous tic (that comes and goes, or maybe stays) (2) the start of BEB, although that's not likely since it doesn't appear to affect your blinking (3) the start of Meige syndrome (4) something entirely unrelated to the above.

To ease your mind, find a good opthalmo-neurologist and ask his/her opinion. Also, get your stress level under control with stress management.

Cheers,

--- Lynn

Hi Petal,
Lynn has offered sound advice. Many people experience an eye tic or twitch at various times in their lives. I often did under times of stress. It would sometimes last months and then just disappear. I don't have any idea if it was in any way related to by developing blepharospasm. I don't think that any body knows. Many people have eye tics or twitches or quivering of the eye muscles and never develop blepharospasm. I agree with Lynn, that your best course of action is to see a good eye doctor and see what he or she says and go from there.

With blepharospasm, our symptoms are much more pronounced with light sensitivity and forcible closure of the eyes due to squeezing and spasms.

Shirley in AR.

I started with that same symptom when I was 29 years old. Very simple - a little twitching/quivering under the left eye. It would come and go and as time went by the twitching spread down to the middle of my face and now it's from my forehead to my neck (left side only). I was diagnosed with hemifacial spasms. I went into remission a few times, but now it is full blown. I am 43 years old. But that doesn't mean it will happen to you. I see alot of people have what you have and it never develops into anything. My old neurologist never diagnosed my condition. I diagnosed it myself from reading information on this site. I went to him for 3 years. Then I went to another one and he confirmed my diagnosis. My opinion is that it's too soon to tell what you may have. It took about 12 years for me to find out what I had.
