Cookbook Shipping and Handling

I have been in touch with the Foundation about the $2.50 per book shipping and handling. The pertinent word here is handling. Mary said “Not only are they paying postage but for our time to do this - I have been working extra hours to get them out). Also, we pay rent on the postage meter (you can't buy them, you can only rent them) and we pay for the packaging materials. The $2.50 to mail one copy is not enough to cover the costs of shipping.”

We ordered a large number of books because we hope to sell them and make a profit. We have to sell enough books to break even then go on to making a profit. With shipping materials and postage, our costs will be about $12,000 or $13,000 before we can break even. So, please think of the cost of the cookbook as $12.50. Take orders, collect the checks from your friends and family and mail them to the BEBRF. My husband sold 17 books at work for me so far and everyone thought it was worth the money.

Nilda, as an old Marketing man who was pretty successful in his day, why don't you just flat out say that the price is $15 with free shipping and leave it at that. You need to make some money for the foundation.

By the way, I originally ordered 10 books when I sent in the recipes but never saw any books. Did I miss something and have to order them seperately. I am sure that I can sell more but I would like to get ten the ten to start with.....Alan

alan , you're supposed to use the form in the newsletter to order and pay for the cookbooks, regardless of what you wanted before, which i think was just a barometer of how many they should print.

Nilda,
I wasn't really complaining and I certainly forgot to take the handling into consideration, it occured to me later.
Alan has a point, but it would be a bit difficult to ask for $15.00 now, when the order form in the books asks for $12.50.

The cookbooks are beautiful. I'm very pleased with it. I saw many names that I recognized and many others that I did not but that was to be expected. I was surprised and delighted that our Top Ten List that got in the newsletter was also put in the front of the cookbook. I almost cried. We had such a good time with that and to have it included in the cookbook made me very proud of our bulletin board. I was also happy to see that the bb was mentioned several times in the front. Nilda and all that helped to put it together did an excellent job and they all deserve a big cyber hug. I hope that the foundation makes lots and lots of money on them for research.

Hug accepted Shirley. I'm glad you're pleased. I kept that as a surprise for those of you who worked on it. I think that list educates people about what we go through in a humorous way. I hope everyone finds something to like about the book and overlooks whatever shortcomings there may be.
Could you scan the picture of the book and put it on the bb so people who have not purchased it see what it looks like? I don't know how to do that.

Hey Nilda, I've been taking pictures of the cookbook and finally selected one that I thought would do and logged on to post it and you had the same idea that I did.
I was hoping that I wouldn't bore people with it. Anyway, this will give you an idea of what it looks like. It is our "baby" and it is beautiful. 207 pages full of wonderful recipes.
Take a peek.

Nilda, you better save me a BEBRF bag. I promise to buy one.

Thanks a million Shirley. You done good. I spoke to Mattie Lou Koster on the anniversary of the foundation and she's delighted with it. Her brother bought some copies because his sister's picture is in it. Whatever the reason for buying them, keep selling them.

Thanks, Shirley. Very colorful cover. I keep peeking in my mailbox every day, hoping there will be a big box of cookbooks in it! It's exciting.
