The combination of Artane and Botox could definitely be helping. Artane is one of the drugs that is commonly tried or used to help with the symptoms of BEB.
I tried it myself but was unable to take it. It messed with my short term memory really bad. I would start to do something and then within seconds forget what I was going to do. Others can take it without problem.
A lot of us do get botox injections and also take some form of medication. We get there by trial and error.
How long have you been taking the Artane? Our webmaster just posted a link to Dr. Daroff's lecture that he gave at the recent conference that discussed medications for BEB. You might want to read that if you haven't already.
You can find it by going to the link that he posted or just go to the BEBRF Main Pages and click on "What's New?".

There is one man who takes Artane and no Botox and was still driving and working the last I remember. It is one of the few drugs my doctors wouldn't let me try yet. The same doctors wouldn't try Klonopin either, but when I found one who would it has been the one thing I know works well. I take Klonopin 1/4mg about every 4 hours during the day and when it starts wearing off I can really tell it.

Hi Nancy,

I was diagnosed with Beb about four years ago and prescribed with Artane which works for me most of the time; unless there is some sort of climatic change or some physiological reason. I was prescribed two tabs three times/day, but I usually get by on 2-3 tabs/day. More than that, then it affects my short term memory and gives me a buzz. I have not really considered trying any other meds and definately not the injections; at least for now. It's not 100% effective, but I can drive to my job in the woods and back. Hope this helps, Pete.
