for those of you who have had a limited myectomy, wouldn't the aftercare of your eyes be a little different than those of us who haven't had this yet?

Kathy it would just depend on your eyes. I didn't do a whole lot before my myectomy as I did not have a dry eye problem. My eyes were closing at night also before my myectomy.

Even if you haven't had a myectomy, if you have a dry eye problem, botox is going to make this worse. I believe that you have mentioned having horrible pain and grittiness, etc, for weeks after you get botox. This indicates to me that your eyes are getting dry as the botox works and you don't blink as often or your eyes may be open at night (partially) when you relax and you are unaware of it. The GenTeal Gel is good for daytime use but it will really not do the job that the ointments do for overnight. It will not last all night. So, I would suggest that those people that do have dry eyes or pain in their eyes after botox or the gritty or burning or irritated feeling that you would need to start a ritual of using a good ointment at night and also wearing a sleep mask and using lots of preservative free drops through the day or the GenTeal Gel if that works better for you.
Just my opinion.

I used ointment religiously before the surgery, but not the mask. I knew one of my eyes didn't completely close sometimes after botox, but I didn't think about using a mask. Immediately after the surgery, it was obvious that I would need to wear one. In fact, we stopped on the way out of Pensacola the day after surgery and bought one. I've worn one ever since.
