Re: SoCal Support Group
Joanne, it would be great, I'd really love to come. We are out of town for a few days that week, so don't know if we can go that Saturday.
My husband is working on an urgent project and don't know if he can get away, I haven't sprung it on him yet. It's quite a bit closer to you than from where we live, according to the map. I'll try, but can't make promises.Christel in Ca. hoping to attend Lynn's meeting
Re: SoCal Support Group
Joanne, you didn't supply your E-mail addy, but I sent a copy of the directions to Christel. Check with her, please, or E-mail me directly.--- Lynn PS. Would you believe it - I ran into a full-blown case of Meige in my community, tonight, plus an undiagnosed case of HFS a few blocks away a few weeks ago. - LY

Re: SoCal Support Group/lyn
good for you Lyn. i gave a beb pamphlet to my dentist and he said he'd very much like to read it as he thought he might have some older patients who had one of the disorders mentioned in the booklet. i also gave the booklet to my pharmicist; he also teaches a pharmacology class and is passing these out to his students to make them aware of the problem. there are probably alot of people ou there who don't know what they have, maybe someone caring can help them at least with this knowledge.
Re: SoCal Support Group
I post with accolades for the support group meeting held at Lynn and
Pat Yarbrough's home on 10/13. Actually more like an "event" than a meeting!! Had about 10-12 of us--both blephros and support persons. Rocky greeted us at the door (I'll let you wonder who he is--but he sure had me missing my golden retriever!!) My friend Joe rode me up from San Diego to Palm Desert--some of the others were from Palm Springs and Riverside. Shared stories and experiences for the morning and then Pat had a lunch for us that was probably as wonderful as some of our cyber picnics!! Especially the to die for chocolate brownies and lemon bars!! Lynn was a great host and after lunch, showed us a 10 minute video about Myobloc which was informative. Dr. Lew was part of it--the movement specialist I had a consult with in SD who referred me to Dr. Chung at Kaiser in Los Angeles. It was a great mix of people and the first time my support friend Joe had any exposure to other blephros--he really thanked me from allowing him to take me there!!Missed you Christel, you would've made a great addition and would've loved meeting you. Maybe another time. So thanks Lynn and Pat for a wonderful meeting and opening your home to us!!! And, thanks bb for
allowing me to share.. Love you all, Joanne M. San Diego, CA
Re: SoCal Support Group
I'm jealous. Next time take pictures. Or if you did, I want to see them.
Lynn, fess up, who is Rocky? Sounds like you did really good, Lynn. I love hearing about people getting together and sharing experiences and learning (and eating! :-) )Joanne, I'm glad that Joe got to go and that you shared this with him. It really does help our spouses and significant others to understand us better when they can see that others have the same problems and that in turn helps us. Way to go Lynn.
Thanks for sharing Joanne. Shirley in AR.
Re: Four-legged friend
Joanne, I was hoping that by now you would have welcomed another four- footed friend into your life. I'll bet you enjoyed Rocky. Thanks for sharing the news of the support group. I felt as though I were there too, and enjoyed those lemon bars immensely. Sally in North Idaho
Re: SoCal Support Group
Thanks, Joanne, for your critique and summary of our meeting, and thanks for your contributions to the discussion. We had a great time and I got to meet a bunch of people who live very near here whom I had not met before. We had a really good, supportive, and intelligent discussion and lots of feedback from caregivers/spouses who were there. One gent was VERY proud of having driven all the way in spite of his wife's trepidations!Rocky is our 5-year old Welsh Corgi, reddish-brown with a couple of white blazes. Loves people and likes to be in the center of activity, until he decides nobody is going to play with him anymore, when he wanders off and goes to sleep. Corgis are a bit strange looking -- a long, stocky, muscular body atop very short legs, with very alert, upright ears -- and likes nothing in the world more than running at about 30 MPH for the sheer joy of chasing a tennis ball. --- Lynn
Re: SoCal Support Group
Hi Lynn,Thanks for introducing us to your "Rocky." I love dogs and really enjoy getting acquainted with all the pets on this BB. He sounds like a joy to have around to keep your life upbeat. Sally
