Klonopin and Zoloft.

I have been wanting to get off Xanax . Finally my doctor put me on klonopin 2 mg. 4 times a day and he gave me free samples of Zoloft of 25 Mg. and 50 Mg. and didn't tell me exactly how much to use but implied one a day. Has anyone used more than this amount? Usually, I need the maximum to get the effect of anything. Perhaps because I weigh so much or because I have been on so much medication for so many years.
How often do you use Zoloft and what Mg.? What is the max amount of lolloping you use.? Another doctor last year gave me klonopin 2 at a time 3 times a day. It worked well but I became extremely depressed,It may have been a reaction to the klonopin or just life circumstances..
The last botox lasted full force for less than 24 hours. but it still has some effect but I would be incapacitated without the meds.
Since the klonopin worked so well , I wanted to try it again with the Zoloft to counteract the side effects.
Please write and give me any experiences you have had with these drugs. I would really appreciate it. I know we are all different. Ann Doyle

first of all ann, you need to call the doctor and ask him for more specific instructions on taking these pills. i think they take a while to build up in your system to be effective.

Got the instructions:
klonopin 2 mg.
one a day for 7 days, 2 a day for 7 days, 3 a day for 7 days and 4 a day for 7 days. Then come back and see him
In the meantime, I have been taking 4 Xanax a day. I am to stop taking one a day each week.
Zoloft: 25 mg. one a day for one week and then 50 mg. once a day.
Does this seem average? low? could be higher if need be? Just your unqualified, non doctor experience. Ann Doyle

I can't speak to the Zoloft, but that's a lot of Klonopin. As you said, you may require more to relieve your symptoms - you know your own body and how it reacts to medication. I take .25 mg of Klonopin twice or three times a day. I usually have the opposite problem that you do - a little goes a long way for me. I've been taking Klonopin for 2 1/2 years and got up to .5 mg twice a day, but I was wiped out by dinner time, so I cut back.

Hi Ann,
I was on zoloft for awhile--the 50mg once a day is average, I believe. I started at 25mg and that is low but was still a bit much for my system.
Unlike you, I am highly intolerant to most of the meds. Judy B. took zoloft at one time so maybe she has some input on that one as well.
I cannot speak from personal experience re the Klonopin except from what I have heard mentioned on this board. Many start at .5mg klonopin 2 or 3 times a day and then work up if necessary. For me, a 2mg pill would
probably knock the socks off me. I've learned personally it is better
to start low. I can't really speak for the zanax as I am unfamiliar
with those dosages. Good Luck. Joanne M. San Diego, CA

Xanax has to be weaned off very slowly if you have been on 4 a day for a long time. That is why your doctor is starting the others at lowers doses and gradually increasing as you decrease the xanax. The Zoloft and Klonopin are usually started at low doses and gradually increased to give your body time to adjust. I only take 1/4 mg 4 times a day, but Xanax 4 times a day would have made me a zombie in bed. Everyone is different and it sounds like your doctor knows what he is doing for you and will be working with you if you aren't doing well with what he is trying to do. Just keep communicating with him on how you are doing.

i don't know! but i think it is pretty dangerous to be handing out samples of antidepressants with no instructions. considering some of the side effects all meds have, and of course some people get allergic reactions.
