Well I got some good news today. My cornea has healed and the doctor was please that there was good lubrication in the eye HA HA HA. NOT!

It must be the saran at night that is helping but I tell you they have never been as bad as they are right now. They are burning and itchy and I want to scratch them right out. Could I possibly have allergies now that are effecting the eyes?
I have not had them in the past but I know you can get them at any time and my friends who suffers from allergies all say this is a very bad year for allergies.

Are there drops for allergies in the eye? I have so many different kinds but none of them say anything about allergies

Well only 2 more sleeps until Marco Island and humidity. Can't wait

Hi Catherine - have you thought to try Benadryl for allergies? It might help with your scratchy eyes - I don't know but, in small doses for a week or so, it might be worth a try. I've had dry corneas, especially the left eye, for a couple of winters now. I do the `routine' faithfully with the eye creams and drops - almost every half hour, its such a pain (in more ways than one:-)).

Enjoy Marco Island - don't know where that is, hope you'll tell us all about it on your return.

I agree with June, perhaps Benadryl (or the generic brand) will help. Occasionally I get itchy, watery eyes, too and Benadryl helps. I start out with just 25mg, but 50mg is not too much except that it may make you sleepy for awhile.
Have a GREAT time in FL!

Glad to hear your cornea has healed. That can be so miserable, not to mention scary. I have had trouble with eye allergies in the past. There is an over the counter drop called "Eye Allergy Relief". I can't remember who the manufacturer is and don't know if it would be called that in Canada. When allergies were really bad, my eye doc prescribed "Patanol" generic name "olopatadine hydrochloride opthlamic solution" made by Alcon. It was very expensive here ($56.00 for a 5 ml. bottle) and it burned like the dickens when I put it in, but it definitely stopped the itching and redness. Since you are just healing from a corneal abrasion, I would check with the doctor before using any otc drops. Good luck. Kathleen in North Dakota
