I Rhonda, I did apply for and do receive social security disability. I was denied the first time and appealed and it was approved on appeal. I did not obtain an lawyer but did it myself. You have to have good letters from your doctor or doctors. They must be supportive of you or you will get no where. You also cannot apply for SSD if you are working. You might want to check into short term or long term disability with your employer. I did not have this.
There is information on applying for disability in the "BEBRF Main Page" that you will find located at the top of this bb page. Just click on it and scroll down until you find the info on disability. I'll try to find it for you and add a link to this post.
Good luck with this and your decision. The decision to stop work wasn't anything that I had to make a decision about. There was no way that I could work.
Hope that this helps a little. Maybe others will also post with some helpful information.
Shirley in Arkansas who just put her father back in the hospital with shortness of breath and chest pain. Just got home after spending the last 4 hours there. I may not be posting much for a while again. This taking care of parents has gotten to be a full time job. Later---
