EYE SCANS AT AIRPORTS - HOW WOULD WE FARE?

There's lots of talk about security and eyes digitally scanned for identification (like finger printing). I understand Saudi Arabia has already implemented this as "1.5 million pilgrims are going there for the largest annual pilgrimage of people on the planet" and they worry about terroists and other crimes.

I'm curious if `digital scanning' causing a flashing light and how would we fare through this - just interested!

June in Toronto (beb/meige) who ALWAYS worries about flashing lights!

i think it would be damaging to our eyes. i had a woman shine one of those clothing scanners directly in my eyes; there were instructions all over the thing which said not to do this. it warped the hard contact lens on my eyes, causing corneal irregularities, i had to switch to soft lenses and i saw flashing red lights from the scanner for weeks afterwards. i still can't believe she did this. my doctors have said this would not have effected the nerves which cause my left eye to be worse but i will always wonder. she left the country soon afterwords, she had been working on a green card.

That sounds awful, Kathy, what you went through - did you get back to the store about it, even if the woman left the country? Its bad enough attending conferences (beb included) where they use those laser pointers - but we've discussed that before on this bb!
