I received another e-mail from Ann Brett of the Dystonia Foundation about the Time magazine article on Botox and she encourages everybody to e-mail them (see e-mail address and link below)."It has come to my attention that Time Magazine ran an article entitled Smile--You're On Botox - February 18, 2002."
You can access this article at the link and you can E-mail: Letters@Time.com
Ann suggests the following wording (for your consideration):
"It is an injustice to dystonia patients that Botox (botulinum toxin) has received such press coverage recently for wrinkles! Hardly ever is it mentioned that Botox has been found to be very beneficial, and oftentimes the 'only' effective therapy, for patients with dystonia and spasticity - both characterized by overactive muscles!
Time is a respected publication and this issue should be addressed as it would certainly increase awareness of these poorly understood conditions!"

Re: TIME MAG. ARTICLE ON BOTOX
I'm confused... I went to the link that Bob Gardner provided for us - read the TIME article. It was called "Let's Get Toxed". I printed all 8 pages for further use. Now, June posted a link for the article "Smile - You're on BOTOX". This is much shorter (only 2 printed pages) but basically the same article. ???????
My only regret is- if any of you missed reading in the longer version - the ridiculous statement referring to prepping for your Dr.s appointment- "And, just to make an occasion of it, dress up for your appointment: Wear your BOTOXEDO". GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!
Anyway I'm e-mailing TIME Magazine with the suggested wording and maybe a few words of my own. Hope everyone else does too.Nancy in NE. PA.
Re: TIME MAG. ARTICLE ON BOTOX
I did email Time, but I had only read the short article. I got a response back. I'm sure it is a "canned generic response". If they get enough emails they may pay attention and at least print a small part of somebodies objections or a plea to tell the other side of why BOTOX was really approved in the first place. So everyone PLEASE send an email to letters@time.com
Re: TIME MAG. ARTICLE ON BOTOX
I got the same automatic reply from Time mag. but see above post, I did get a better one from the Washington Post - they want to use my comments in their Interactions column (I only wish I'd kept a copy of my comments (duh). We have to `keep at it`.
