weird sightings

Something else weird which i am really intrigued to know...Has anyone else has had this experience.
When this blepharospasm started I used to get weird pictures when I closed my eyes when i was at rest, eg in bed at night before going to sleep. It tended to be a close up of something...eg one night it was as though I was underwater looking very closely at rock and could see all the small indentations on it. Or a viewpoint of the underside of a corner of a chair; or as though I was, say, a snail and looking at the stalks of grass from that angle. If i wasn't so relatively normal during the day(!!) I would have thought i was going nuts. But i am convinced that something neurological was happening. I don't get these sightings now, which is a shame as i used to really enjoy them as they were so interesting, and each night I would wonder what i was going to "see" that night..

Mrs. Noah (I like that), I've never experienced what you are talking about. It does sound like something neurological, like you said. You should mention it to your doctor and see what he or she thinks.
Sorry that the "entertainment" factor is gone. Take vitamin B for added dreams. Works for me.

Could it be a wee dram talking Mrs. Noah:-)? Shirley sees to think that it might be neurological as well, so I'll go along with that theory - I haven't got a clue what it could be. I can imagine how you'd miss the sightings if you found them interesting - I used to dream in serial, night after night, and I couldn't wait to see what happened next. They were good dreams and I was much younger then.

June in Toronto (beb/meige) who got to see the doctor today - am on antibiotics and nose spray, SO I definitely can't work at this here party for Christal and Dee - everybody has to be nice to me as well as them - ok:-)???

We'll all coddle you, June. Especially since Mother Chook will be there.

Sally in North Idaho who never has good dreams ... they are all terrible nightmares (day or night).

I look forward to the coddling, Sally, maybe you could bring some of that lentil soup - it was so good! Maybe, if my throat is ok, I can tell some good stories that you can FOCUS on (like Pippa tells us to) so that you can have good dreams instead of the terrible nightmares you said you get (day or night?).

Sorry about your bad dreams, Sally. That's not any fun. Some medications can cause bad dreams/nightmares. Has this been going on a long time?
I've been trying to email you, Sally and the email keeps coming back to me. It's happened a couple of times before for a day or so and then they will go through. I'll keep trying.

I don't think it's medication as I've been prone to nightmares, really frightening ones or sad ones, for as long as I can remember. Woke up with them as a kid. Think I probably needed a shrink or two along the way. Oh well, I've survived them.

Don't know about my e-mail. I thought things were coming through okay. I had another one to Roy returned to me the other day. Try me again when you can. I always love having mail.

Sally in North Idaho who would enjoy having some happy dreams.

Pippa, far out man, are you sure your not from California? ;>) Actually, I can remember in the early stages, back when I had no idea what was wrong, I would close my eyes outside in the sun and the light just burning through my eyelids with a bright red. This was different than before because I would do this often soaking up the warm rays on a cool spring day, waiting for planes to come in to park them at the airport where I work.

People often say to me "if the light bothers you close your eyes" - they just don't understand that I (we) can still see the lights through our eyelids - just closing them isn't enough.

This is an interesting subject that i was thinking of bringing up at one time, so wherever it goes, thanks pippa. When all of us dream, are your eyes open in your dreams?? I also dream in technicolor and read somewhere that MEN only dream in black and white.. MEN is this true?

I don't dream a lot these days - I was in my teens when I had those `dreams in serial' - they were in full technicolour and my eyes were wide open. I used to fly in those dreams and do such wonderful things. The dreams I get now are usually at the end of my sleep - they are erratic and don't always make much sense. They are in colour (I think) and I haven't noticed if my eyes were open or not. Next time I dream I'll try to FOCUS and see if I can tell!

Speaking of dreams, I was very sick last week with some kind of virus/flu, (Nauseous, throwing up and "that other crud" that goes along with this "thing". I didn't even read the BB until Friday and you all were up to your usual shenagigans - I declare I can't leave you alone for two or three days and you just go wild.

Back to the subject at hand. I was so sick I called the doctor for some Phenegren (sp) and I had crazy dreams. Keep in mind that I also like so many of you put something over my eyes at night. On this particular night I dreamed that this bright white quilt that had bright pastel colors of blue, pink and green and it was directly in front of my eyes. I felt like I could just reach out and touch it. But it was very scary also because the light was so bright that it literally made my eyes burn - I also thought that this might be "the light" that preceeded a migaine and what was so weird was that I raised my eye mask and I could peek out from under it and I saw the darkness of the room, but when I lowered my mask again the bright light with the quilt returned. WEIRD! The next day I checked the side effects of this medicine and it said that you could have nightmares, It really wasn't a nightmare but a very strange dream, there was more to the dream but as usual I could not remember all of it. Also I felt like I did not sleep that night, but I am sure I did.

Now that I have a captive audiance do you want to hear (see) more. I woke up this morning (4 AM-the magic hour) with what felt like glass and sharp briars in my eyes. I could not open either eye and I was in excruciating pain. Tears were pouring out of my eyes. I got up, felt my way to the bathroom and wet a washcloth with hot water and laid it over my eyes hoping that the heat was soothe the pain. Finally I got up and in the dark tried to put ointment in my right eye. I know I put half a tube of ointment in that eye and I could not cover the area that hurt.

At 9 am I had my husband look up a local eye doctor and they told me to come immediately. In the doctors ofice he put numbing drops in my eyes so he could pull up my eyelid to see if anything was under there. There wasn't but he showed my husband all the "yellow spots" on the white of my eyes - these were scratches on the surface and that was what was hurting. He said for me to put drops in my eyes every half hour of the day and to put the ointment in the outside corner of my eye with my finger at night. He said I didn't really have to put a lot because it would spread over the eyeball. It was OK to cover the eye at night.

Joyce in NC who still has some scratching in my eye and yes I am putting drops in my eyes every half hour. I slept all afternoon. With the doctors blessing I took some pain medication. Oh the joys of this dis-ease.

So what caused the `scratchings on the surface of the eye' Joyce? Are you suggesting it was the `bright white quilt with the light so bright it made your eyes burn't? So strange! I hope the drops every half hour and the cream help a lot.

I know what you mean about that virus/flu - I'm in the middle of yet another one (seems like I've had one almost continually since Christmas - and my doctor calls it the 300-day cough!). I have been put on a cortisone nosespray right now. I just threw up that `crud' and now can't sleep (its about 12.40am). Roll on a real down-to-earth cold winter next year, this up and down one has caused somany people to be ill.

Joyce, you are having the darndest time with your eyes doing all sorts of weird things that aren't even from BEB. Was this a scratched cornea or something like that which someone here had?

I hope you're feeling lots better by now.

Sally in North Idaho who is coming down with a bad sinus/ear infection. Husband went to the city today, so doctor agreed to prescribe medicine to be picked up, and not make me get out in the cold and go to his office.

Yes, Joyce's eyes are doing the craziest things aren't they? I'd still like to know if she believes that the coloured light (quilt) dream she had caused this scratched eyeball?
Sorry to hear you have a bad sinus/ear infection Sally - that can really hurt. I hope the medicine works quickly to ease it. I'll share the sofa with you at Cristel's place as we'll both not be able to work and the gals will have to take care of us:-)

Sally, you better eat some of your sick soup, we don't want you spreading your germs all over my house or I'll be running a hospital here.
But seriously, hope the meds work quickly and you get over your infection in a hurry. It's alwasy something, isn't it?
