STILL WAITING !!

Where are you guys, I'm still waiting. That boat must be awfully slow or perhaps you are stuck in our dry river bed, on which we look down from our property, waiting for a taxi to bring you up. Well, you can wait for a long time - no taxis in this small town. I can't drive and Horst isn't home, so start walking. Delaine, you can bring Mom and Sis and Kitty, bring the pups by all means. Dee, you won't need to bring your lamp, the sun is shining and it's quite warm. Evelyn don't forget the cookies and I'm sure that Sally has plenty of her sick soup ready for June and others suffering from the "bug" to help them onto the road to recovery. The rest of you bring whatever you want, I expect you all to come.
I've cooked up a great pot of anti Alzheimer's delight and here's something I've been wanting to lay on you, even if it doesn't have anything to do with BB/Meige, which as bad as it is, seems preferable to Alzheimers.
I read in this month' Discover magazine that an estimated 4 million Americans suffer from Alzheimers disease- scary -!! It seems a vaccine has been developed which is sprayed into the nose, but I won't go into details on this, since it says that it may be years before this nasal vaccine passes through clinical trials.
But here is the good part, a culinary prevention of the dread disease.
And I quote: " Sally Frautschy of UCLA found that diets rich in curcumin, a compound in the curry spice turmeric, reduced the accumulations of betaamyloid protein in rat brains. Rats, treated with curcumin also fared better in memory-dependent maze tests than did rats on normal diets. The finding may explain why in India, where foods are loaded with turmeric, just 1 percent of people over 65 contract Alzheimer's - the lowest incidence for the disease worldwide".
I found that rather interesting and since we like curry, the hotter the better, we have been eating more of it lately. I find that it goes well with cranberry sauce on the side.
I have never eaten Tofu, but since it takes on the taste of whatever you cook it with, it should lend itself well to curry dishes. I will try it and tell Horst it's chicken, wonder if I can get away with that one?

Hi Christel,

Guess I'm doomed for Alzheimers since I don't like curry. As far as I know we are all still coming. Waiting for Pippa and the Ark to arrive "frae bonny Scotland". (Did I say that right Pippa?) Hope that ark comes with wheels for those dry patches along the way. See you soon.

We are landing Cristel - see Sally's "Rainbow..." post.

That's interesting about tumeric and curry - we love Indian food - could live on vegetarian Indian curry. But you wouldn't know that I'd been eating it this last couple of weeks as I've got a lot of things mixed up or forgotten. I forgot theatre tickets for the very first time about 2 weeks ago, had my hubby all set to go for a physical doctor's appointment today (he'd fasted!!!) and its not until next week! I still blame a lot of it on beb and trying to get them to see and then the hearing being a problem because of it, plus now I've got this infection again - so what's a gal to do:-)

We should be there soon....I probably slowed everybody down with my limp, but we should be at your door soon:)
I have the best recipe for chicken salad with curry (I substitute diced vegetarian chicken)if I can find it. Cookies are coming too.
Evelyn where it has warmed up enough to melt the snow. Just a little left. Sun was out most of the day.

Evelyn, looking forward to meeting you.
Say, if it isn't too much trouble and your eye allows, do you think you could e-mail me the recipe for that curried chicken salad? Would really appreciate it.
