Braille Institute

After the recent messages about the Braille Institute, I decided to view their web site. I was disappointed when they had numerous links to wev sites that addressed disorders that caused visual hardships. But, they did not have anything about BEB.
So, I emailed them, provided basic information about BEB and invited them to visit the BEBRF web site and the BB. I hope they will include it as a link from their web site, so more people can learn about BEB.
I hope I did not overstep my bounds in my zealous effort to make more people aware of this frustrating disorder. I wanted to paste my email to the Braille Institute here in this message, but it would not let me do that. I am sure there is probably a way, but I am still learning.

My "eyeshades" are closing more than I would like right now. It is making it difficult to post. Would everyone keep me in your prayers. I have to take a four hour computer test on April 6th. It is the next step toward MFT licensure. They just recently changed the test and it was less than a 30% pass rate - that was with most of the people having full vision. Oh well, I keep telling myself I am special - after all I only had approximately 1 in 100,000 chance of getting BEB! So, how hard should it be to be one out of 3????
Have a great day everyone!

Linda, I think that you did a wonderful thing in contacting Braille Institute. Getting information out there can only help us and others.

Rest those tired "shades". I do wish you the best of luck on your upcoming test. Take those preservative-free eye drops with you.
Here I go being "stupid" again but what does "MFT" stand for. You might have mentioned it before but I missed it or blinked while I was reading.

Hi Linda,

What a great idea to send the BEB web address to the Braille Institute.

And good luck with your test on April 6. I went thru it and wouldn't want to EVER go thru that process again! And I didn't even have dystonia then. Have you asked the BBS for extra time? They are required BY LAW to provide for people with disabilities.

I'll be thinking of you and sending positive energy your way.

Great move, Linda. Thanks for taking the time to communicate with Braille Institute.

Good luck on your test. You should be a compassionate MFT, having dealt with a problem such as BEB yourself. Keep us informed.

My husband just laughed when I told him what I had done regarding writing the Braille Institute. He said if I stack all my "soap boxes" together we would have one really nice size home! Oh well, what is more important? Being part of the BEB group, I know I hope I find a number of ways to "get the word out." I fuess I am one of noisey people when I find a good cause.
Thank you all for the kind words and good thoughts about the exam - Dee, I will be in touch with you later through email, just ran out of eye power today. I've been trying to take one of the tests on the computer - INTERESTING! Since I just received an official diagnosis, I wasn't able to get the paperwork in to BBS in time to ask for special privileges, so I will do this and if it doesn't work , then I will request it the second time around. May you all find joy in the simple things that fill our lives. Linda
