HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE

I hope you have a happy Easter - spending time with family or good friends, that the weather is good for you all, your eyes calm down and that the Easter bunny comes to your house - go ahead eat all that chocolate! I'm going to be in our capital city of Ottawa this weekend - celebrating an adult fully-immersed baptism.

A little bit of bunny trivia:

"What is the origin of the Easter Bunny?
In pagan times, the "Easter hare was no ordinary animal, but a sacred companion of the old goddess of spring, Eostre. Since long before Jesus Christ was born, parents told their children that the magic hare would bring them presents at the spring festival. The presents were often painted eggs, as these represented the new life starting at this time of year." Hares are animals which look like rabbits, but are larger and in many countries quite rare. In most places, the Easter rabbit (bunny) has replaced the Easter hare completely.

The bunny was first used as a symbol of Easter in 16th century Germany, where it was first mentioned in German writings. The first edible Easter bunnies, made primarily of pastry and sugar, were produced in Germany as well, during the early 1800s. Also in Germany, children made nests of grass and placed them in their yards. They believed the Easter Bunny would fill these baskets with brightly decorated eggs during the night."

Hi June

I hope you have a very nice easter too. Your information about easter was really interesting. I didn't know this before. Thank you for sharing.

We aren't doing anything special for easter. Just going to stay home. Our weather has been so awful lately. Rainy and cold. I did have botox injections last Tuesday, so am hoping to enjoy my easter with "eyes wide open".

Carol Brown who is getting very sick of this weather.

That was really interesting. Thanks June.
I am going to be celebrating my friends'30th wedding anniversary at a special Blessing at their Church on Easter Saturday with a ceilidh to follow. Isn't that nice? Not many people these days have been married that long. (I have been married 34 years this August, and my children tell me we are odd!...I hope they don't mean boring!))
Does anyone know what a 30th wedding anniversary is? I know 25 is Silver, but what is 30?
Happy Easter to you all!
Pippa

it is a special time for me as the resurrection of Jesus Christ represents the whole basis of my belief system and that of the Christian world. God Bless. Joanne M. San Diego, CA

Hello again, June,

Happy Easter to you as well! And may your celebration in Ottawa be a blessed one.
We've just returned from spending a few days in Kamloops where our grandsons participated in a weeklong international Bantam hockey tournament. It was great to meet other members of my family who arrived from the N.W.T., Alberta and Sasketchewan to cheer for our "Notre Dame Hounds" and who will join us a little later. We returned home earlier to be able to attend our church's Good Friday Service. It's good to remember at all times what happened 2000 years ago.

Thanks for reminding me of the bunny story. Yes, it's not only our Christmas trees that are known to have their origin there.
The things these Germans are responsible for...

Hugs and best wishes, Gisela

A Happy & Blessed Easter to all.
