Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Hi Shirley,
This is a fantastic idea! I just went to the site and had a look and your detailed instructions are very easy to follow. The photos look great. I immediately began looking for the faces of names I may have seen on the bb. I have similar albums on the internet all 'papertrails'. This is a wonderful way to keep in touch with long distant family members and friends as well.Debbie
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Hi Shirley, I emailed you a picture. Did you receive it?
Debbie not wanting to miss out on the fun!

Debbie, it is still not here this morning. Try again.

Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
WOW SHIRLY!!!This is fabulous. I can see that you have been very busy. Just keeping this a secret must have been a huge thing for you. Not only are you providing us with the names and faces of our friends but also an opportunity to share ourselves with others.
I am not as articuluate in writing down how I feel as others but I want to to know I think the world of you and this board.
This I'm sure, has been a huge undertaking on your part. I hope you get great satisfaction knowing what a wonderful service you have provided. Catherine in Calgary who will have some pictures as soon as I can operate my digital camera
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Thanks Debbie and Catherine.
I haven't really been trying to keep it a secret, just didn't know when I would get the "kinks" worked out. Bob had sent me the information about a month ago and I've just slowly messed with it and changed it a couple of times. Had to totally do it over at one point because of my misunderstanding of how to set it up and also wanted to find the easiest way for people to get to it. I've worked on it when I had time and my eyes were cooperating. I hope that people will send me some pictures to put on there. If not, I'll just keep it open with what I have. Get that digital camera going, Catherine. I love mine. I can't say that I've got mine figured out, yet, but I can point it and snap a picture.
In time, I'll get my post-op pictures on there, too.Shirley in Arkansas
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Wonderful idea, Shirley, and such a lot of work for you - thanks for doing all this. The first couple of times I tried to access the link this morning (I was up at 4 am!) I was told "the page was down". Now (after a couple of hours) I acessed the link but it stalls at every step. I sometimes think that negative vibes cause this - and I'm not feeling so good, hence the bad vibes - what do you think?:-)June in Toronto (beb/meige) who wants the computer sytem to work well ALL the time.
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
June, I'm sorry that you were having trouble with the site being down. I haven't had that problem yet. I've checked it again this morning and all seems well. Keep trying and let me know.Shirley in Arkansas with BEB/Apraxia
Re: WORKING FINE/DIGITAL CAMERA
The site is working fine now, Shirley. It obviously doesn't like early mornings - neither do I:-) Its a great site. Now regarding digital cameras, I was hoping to put one on my wish list as I can't use the regular `hold-it-the-eye' type snap cameras anymore. But wouldn't we also need a scanner to send the photos. I'm completely not knowing what I talk about here, so need an explanation! Thanks. June in Toronto
Re: WORKING FINE/DIGITAL CAMERA
I'm glad that it is now working for you, June.If you get a digital camera, they come with different size LCD monitors or screen that you can look at to take the picture. These work well inside or in low light situations. When outside or in bright light, most are difficult to see as the lighting washes out the screen. Some newer models are better with this and can be seen in very bright lighting conditions. You'd just have to check this out. Most all come with a traditional optical viewfinder, also. Some of these are easier to see through than others. Playing with them at the store and looking through them is the only way you'll be able to tell if it will work for you or not. With a digital camera, you download the pictures directly onto your computer and then with photo software, you can edit the pictures and email them out without the use of a scanner. I do have a scanner and people can snail mail me regular pictures and I can scan them and then put them on the album site. If anyone would like to do that, just email me and I will give you my snailmail address. Shirley in Arkansas

Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Shirley,
Thank you - it is great to see the faces of others.
I think this is a great idea

Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
this is fantastic! It does take a little time to figure it out. For instance there is no way to get back to the bb, you have to re-login. Your cat is GORGEOUS!! she would make a beautiful watercolor. i've seen many of these pics before but it's nice to connect faces and names.Do I bookmark this or how do we look it up again?
Also Sam looks very noble, Rocky is adorable and the alpha male is really cute. I've seen your parrot before, beautiful.
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
hi Kathy. I'm glad that you like it. It is not directly connected to the bulletin board. Bob just pointed me in the right direction so that I could set up the site if I wanted to since we had all expressed interest a while back. I just decided to go ahead and do it and sink or swim.
The link to the site will be in my author profile (here on the bb) so you can go into any of my posts and click on author profile and the link will be there. You will have to remember the password though, which shouldn't be too hard. You can also highlight the link and then right click inside the highlighted area and put it in your "favorites" folder. (I hope I said that right).
You may be able to get back to the bb if you just continue to click on your "back" option. At least, I can. I know how my PC works(some of the time) but others may be set up differently and I'm not the computer whiz here. I know that some of you will recognise some of the pictures as they have been posted on the bb. I chose to go ahead and start with them until I could ask people's permission to use them or they sent me pictures to use. I can always remove pictures at any time. Shirley in Arkansas

Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
It's really great Shirley, thank you for all the time you put into this! We could also post some the beautiful plants we talk about sometimes in our gardens. I'll have to get some updated pictures of my pets. Now let's see if I can perform this mental feat of adding it to my favorites..
Dealine should get her support group photo on there and who else was it Tim? or is that just for the newsletter.--modified by Kathy in Atlanta at Wed, Apr 24, 2002, 12:10:39
Re: I said it wrong
Kathy, I goofed. You right click INSIDE the highlighted area. I corrected it in my above post.
Sorry.
Shirley
I'm waiting on any and all pics.
I've got Delaine's support group photo but I want to get her permission before I post it.

Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
It's in my favorites but i couldn't get it to highlight and then right click.
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Thanks for taking the time to do this for us, Mother Chook...:<)
It's a wonderful idea which gives us a bit more insight to one another
by sharing of photos. If I understand your directions correctly, we can e-mail photo to you (by scanning) with an explanation and you'll
take care of the rest? An instructor at school here will show me how
to work the scanner up in the library since we don't have one in the office and I don't yet have one at home. That's on my list together
with a digital camera. Speaking of photos, I have a friend who is into
the "memory album" craze--I've seen a few of her books and they are
quite nice. Time consuming as well. This will be fun. Appreciate your effort. Joanne M. San Diego, CA
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
You can email me the photos or if you know that I have a photo of you and would like for me to use it, I will. Just let me know if you want me to use your last name or not in the album. Don't decrease the size of any photo-just send as is. Scanned photos are fine and can be emailed or you can mail photos to me.
Joanne, I've emailed you at home.
I've added the fourth album-BB Family-which will have individual and family photos of the bb members. I'm in there and Don and Nilda so far.
I'm going to start a "flower and garden" album as I know that many are interested in that.
It is fun. My neck is just getting sore from sitting at the computer most of the day. My eyes need a rest, too.Shirley in Arkansas

Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Is this the gal that used to complain (a long time ago!) that she knew nothing about the computer and had to have her other family members tell her what to do??? You sure learned good! Coincidentally, just before I "signed on" tonight, my husband was showing me his new photo albums on the computer. He has spent days categorizing and organizing it, and has about 900 pictures so far. He's 'way into digital cameras, but I'm not. (Too busy quilting). You sure did a great job, and it will be so appreciated by so many people. Thanks, Shirley!! Mary
Re: Computer ditz
Yes, Mary, I'm the one. I've come a long way in three years. I remember the first link that I posted. I was so excited.
My family had to drag me kicking and screaming to do anything on the one PC in our family.
Then my sons each got their own for school and college and I got the reject. Hubby upgraded another for himself and at this point we each have our own PCs (with mine being the newest and best :-)). My oldest son "built" mine for me by ordering what I wanted and then putting together a nice system for me. I watched him but don't have any idea what he did. In my family, I am still the computer ditz and still ask for help. Each one of my guys have different areas of interest with the computers so I have to wait until the "right one" shows up. Sometimes I go through all three before I get something straightened out. Shirley in Arkansas
Re: Computer ditz
WOW! Three technical support gurus -- how lucky can you get, Shirley
(besides the fact that they are A#1 specimens of the male gender)! My (retired) husband was a computer 'pert for 30 years and I have been getting paid for dabbling for about 25 years, but everything seems to have surpassed our base of knowledge so it's trial and error (mostly error) these days. Your work is very impressive!--modified by Cynthia at Thu, Apr 25, 2002, 13:54:37
Re: Computer ditz
Thanks Cynthia. My guys do "clean up" pretty nice but I never know what they are going to say. I can't imagine where they got that from.
Send me a picture. ;-)Shirley in Arkansas/still a computer ditz
Re: Computer ditz
Shirley, I finally squinted my way into the album and was able to look at the "people" pictures and read some of the directions, but vision was too fuzzy to try to do more yet.I am SO IMPRESSED with what you have accomplished!!! You can really pat yourself on the back over this project. You've come a long way, baby. Kinda wondering, though, about the true reason for this whole thing of posting picutres ... could it be that there are two bachelors in the household who are getting to matrimonial age and Mother Chook wants to be in charge of the search for young persons of the female gender?? I just wish you'd move all three of those guys (and yourself, of course) to my neighborhood so I'd have computer whiz help. I asked the guy across the alley for help the other day (on phone) and without asking me what I'd done before, he told me to say NO to "save changes" and I lost four hours of work!!! Learned a lesson! Haven't re-done it yet, will wait until I can see better. Sally in North Idaho who nominates Shirley for Webmaster of the Year.
Re: Computer ditz
Caught me again, Sally. Should I list my son's "stats" now or just keep it all underwraps? Can't hurt to try. Of course, I want to be in charge of the appropriate female search. :-) Sally, you are giving me much more credit than I deserve. I wouldn't know how to build a webpage. This site is already set up and you just plug in the pictures and make the albums and descriptions. I would like to design my own webpage some day but that is a ways off for me, yet. I itty bitty step at a time. Shirley in Arkansas alias Mother Chook
Re: Computer ditz/sally and Mischief
Okay sally, I had you pegged right from the very beginning; a blatant, hopeless romantic. That's just fine with me as I have to fight off these tendencies alll the time! AND I just figured out how to be bad (and good at the same time!).
Re: Computer ditz/sally and Mischief
Bad and good at the same time, Kathy??? How??
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Shirley, thanks for doing all this work for us. What a wonderful surprise. You done good! :-)Christel in Ca. whose hubby is the photographer in the family and has a digital camera.
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
So, Christel, get busy and send me a picture. It'll be even better if your pic is in there. Send a picture of you and your hubby. And your pets. Join in the fun.I wish you the best of luck if you decide to stop smoking. i've never smoked and I'm glad because I know from watching and hearing from others how difficult it is to quit. We can be your stop smoking support group, too. We are very flexible, you know. Shirley in Arkansas
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Hi shirley I visited and viewed the photo album I think it is a a great idea to post pictures. Also wanted to ask you I'm not doing so good but I have a Doctors appointment Tomorrow with my Neurlogist I've started with hard squeezing of the eyes. And the opening of my mouth I feel alot of anxiety. Is this because of the injections are this sight affects. Did you ever experience any of this before. I don't know what is happening now.
Irene
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Hi Irene, glad that you like the photo album idea. It's been fun for me and hopefully others will enjoy it.Stress and anxiety always make Blepharospasm and Meige worse. The lower face spasms may or may not be related to the BOTOX. The movement around the mouth and jaw is referred to as oromandibular dystonia or Meige. Your symptoms may be progressing some. BOTOX, when injected in one area can sometimes cause spasms in another area as a side-effect. The BOTOX may suppress the nerve and muscle activity where it was injected but can cause new nerves to form and branch out that can cause symptoms in other areas where there were no symptoms before. When the BOTOX starts to wear off these new nerve branches regress as the old nerves take over again. Sometimes it is a vicious cycle but this doesn't always happen to everyone. But stress will always make your symptoms worse. At different times that I received BOTOX injections, I would develop muscle spasms in my nose (nose scrunching) or around my mouth (upper lip pulling up) but when the BOTOX would start to wear off and my eye spasms got worse, the other spasm would go away. This doesn't always happen though. Hopefully your doctor can give you some answers tomorrow. Ask how he or she feels about medications for this. Many of us are helped with medications in addition to the BOTOX. Let us know how your appointment goes. You might want to write down a list of questions to take with you. Shirley in Arkansas
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Hi Shirley
Just got back from the doctors office. I'm going in tomorrow afternoon to get my second injections. Its been almost 2 months and barely started with a little twitching on both eyes. I ask about the opening of the mouth, and my anxiety, and hard squeezing of the eyes. She said that is normal. At times it might be other muscles acting like before because the medications might be wearing off. She also gave me the medication for the anxiety called Clonazepam 0.5 mg and to take them at bedtime, or twice a day if needed .I'm going to try them to see if it helps. I'm also going to try to go back to work at Library. I know its the worse month because we have to do inventory of everything we have at the Library- school. Thanks a lot
Take care
Irene
Re: Library Inventory ... oh, yes!
Hi Irene,What memories you jarred in the back of my head! How well I remember the annual library inventories, trying to get books back from kids who swore they never checked it out because they don't even read, etc., etc. I rather enjoyed the calm methodical cleaning and sorting books and doing the actual inventory, but it could be hectic. Enjoy!!! Sally in North Idaho who loves libraries!
Re: Library Inventory ... oh, yes!
Sally Hi just got back from my doctors office and I had my second dosage of Botox injections and how hurtfull they were. Yes I know hectic students and teachers as well. I'm doing ok looks like as soon as the Botox hits you my eyes open up real quick.
I love my job but don't know if I'll be able to keep my position.
Take Care

Hi ShirleyJust caught up with the Albums! What a great idea. What a lot of work for you ! I will send a West Australian wildflower photo to add an international flavour. Lyn having a warm Autumn
Re: Photo Album For Us-Print this out.
Hi Lyn
Send on the flower photo or whatever else you would like to include in the albums. Maybe some scenic shots of Australia? We'd all love that, too.Shirley in Arkansas who has had a "bad eye day". Lot's of squeezing and shutting down today. I'm just glad that they are not all like this.
