Electrolysis

Posted by Pippa ® , May 21,2002,02:37   Archive
Does anyone know if electrolysis of eyebrows will be detrimental to Beb suffererers?
I have made an appointment for today but am now having second thoughts about it...
Pippa...also wondering now if electrolysis in the past would have had any effect. Anyone else had it?
Also my song thrushes have been taken away now to a large outdoor aviary before release into the wild by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who were very complimentary indeed about the fact that I had managed to save them and raise them for so long. So, a very happy ending indeed. (And just in time before my holiday, so the timing is perfect too!)

Your message is most interesting and made me think. I did have electrolysis for a few weeks, before my eyes went funny, probably a year or so before, and not eyebrows, only upper lip. I also had some small growths burnt off my face, around my eyes, before BEB. I wonder if either treatment "upset" my eyes/face?

Yes Pippa..well done! I was wondering how your babies were doing!
Today is a sad day for me as we have had our 16year old black cat put to sleep..the last few days he was looking so ill and could no longer eat properly..he was really thin, and was obviously struggling with everything, so we all felt it was kindest to let him go gently. my children have never known life without him so it is very sad and strange for them.
The kittens are thriving but they are not Sinbad...

Much love Claire

Sorry to hear about Sinbad, Claire - its always so hard when we lose a loved pet. They do give so much love in their lifetime though so, even though they live a lot less years than we do, its well worth it. Hope you all handle it ok.

Claire, I'm sorry about your loss. Our pets become so much part of the family and enrich our lives, it's always a heart break to let them go. I've cried over many departed pets in my lifetime and it doesn't get easier. Our Tiffany is going to be 17 shortly, but still in pretty good shape, though she's slowed down considerably and now wants constant attention. She still eats well and grooms herself, though she seems to have forgotten how to retract her claws, she gets stuck on everything.

Claire, I'm also very sorry about your cat.
I do love hearing about your kittens so keep us posted of them.

Anyone that would like to see a picture of Christel's Tiffany can go up to the top of the bb page and click on Photo Albums and scroll down to the "Our Pets" album and click on it. Christel's cats and dogs are in that album. The album password is "beb".

It is very sad time for you I know. Your cat must have been very happy with you and you gave obviously him a good life too, but you will still be lost without him for a while. I am glad that your children have had a life with a cat, because as a child I never had any pets, except later, a budgie, and i think it is so important for them to have this love and communication with an animal, as well as learning life's lessons from them eg about mortality.
Pippa, who still occasionally feels my old cat brushing against my legs even though she is long gone. I have another loving cat now, and it is interesting how they all have different natures, isn't it?

My heart goes out to you and your family, Claire. It is so emotionally crushing to have to be kind enough to choose the final farewell time. I trust Sinbad will be a happy memory forever in your family history.

Sally, you are do good with words...it feels so much better to see it as "choosing the final farewell time" than putting him to sleep....my husband has taken it very hard as he was at work when I had to make the decision and he can't be contacted there.(He works in a "sterile" set up....He came home to find his faithful Sinbad was at rest..
Thank you all for your support and kind words..what a wonderful lot you all are!
We are a great set of animal lovers too aren't we. Maybe it's becuase they are such all accepting friends...they don't notice our scrunched up faces..they just love us and give so much love in return!
The kittens are running round the house like little maniacs..one climbed up the door curtain and then got stuck on top of the coat rack next to the door!
Much love to you all
Claire..who has just been Scuba Diving!

do you have any tales to tell us of a black tomcat with a name like that, I mean was he a notorious ladycat's man or anything?

Sinbad was the biggest coward out! He was a huge, handsome black boycat...but was scared of the tiniest kitten! His favourite pastime was to sleep next to my husband on the best lounge chair!(But once he was very brave and tried to court my teddy-bear!)
Love,Claire

Pippa, I never had electrolysis done, so can't help you there, but want to congratulate you on being such a good trush mama. I tried to save some motherless sparrows many moons ago and wasn't successful. Must have done something wrong. Although they aren't exactly an endangered species, I would have loved to have seen them live.

Hi Pippa. I don't know any thing about the electrolysis either but wouldn't think that it would hurt anything. Just my thought.

Glad that your thrushes are doing well. Baby birds are very difficult to hand raise. You get extra points for that and "baby bird mother" of the year. A very happy ending, indeed.
Anyone that wants to see a couple of pictures of Pippa's baby thrushes can goto the "Just For Fun" and click on it at:

and use the album password of "beb" (all lower case letters). They are pictures 10 and 11, I believe.

Shirley, I know it's early in the morning but I can't log onto the photo album. Is it not a 24/7 thing? Are there hours or something?

Kathy, as far as I know, it is open all the time. I've never had difficulty getting on and have worked late into the night on it. I've not tried in the wee hours of the morning, though. June also had trouble getting on awhile back early in the morning.
I just tried logging on and everything seems fine now. Just keep trying.

Great job, Pippa. the only thing I know about electrolysis is that it hurts. I think there might be more modern methods to solve this problem, that are less painful.
