Facial spasm

Hi everyone,

I went to Boston last Tuesday to see Dr. Tarsy again, because my facial spasms were returning full force. I wouldn't let him give me Botox, because I didn't want to go through 2 weeks of pain, just before Christmas. And more importantly, my spasms are not consistant, they seem to be set off by the weather and the right side of my face seems to drive the spasms.

This is the exact pattern of last year when I was told I had hemifacial spasm, then BEB. This time Dr Tarsy saw how the right side of my face drives the spasms, and how the pain effects me. I cringed when he tried to touch my face. He is at a loss and has refered me to Dr Hedges, because I am so atypical in my facial spasms with pain. I see Dr Hedges the last week of Jan.

So I'm still trying to find the correct diagnosis.

Hi Denise,

I really hope that Dr. Hedges will be able to help you. What is his specialty? You have had so much difficulty with no real answers.

My face hurts when I have spasms all day. I figure the muscles have been overrworked. Just likke exercising and you're sore the next day. My jaw also hurts because it is clenched a lot. An aspirin and the hot sock treatment works for me. I have to do it several times a day. You may be experiencing a different type of pain. Mine is sore muscles. Ann D.
