Nancy, I have a question for you. You said that you had gotten excellent results from your last injections with the added albumin. Are you still light sensitive as most of us are? I ask this because I get good results from using Benadryl and when my eyes are open and breathing is calm, I am not light sensitive. When the Benadryl has worn off, my breathing is terrible, eyes are light sensitive and spasm a lot. Does this make sense? Jeannie from Ohio who is hoping that something good will come from this albumin research so she doesn't have to take Benadryl anymore. |

Hi, Jeannie, and PMFJI,I am convinced that the light-sensitivity is simply caused by the spasms, since they cause the eyes to be closed long enough to allow the irises to open up all the way, an effect that does not happen in normal blinking. A normal blink takes about 1/5 second, and the irises do not respond in that short an interval. To demostrate this, look at yourself in a mirror and watch the behavior of your irises -- they do not change after a normal blink. On the other hand, a spastic blink takes at least 1 second, frequently much longer, and the irises open fully by then.
--- Lynn

Lynn, that makes a lot of sense. Now, if I could just have my eyes open all the time.......Jeannie from Ohio

Lynn, I think you are so right. While I'm recovering since my myectomy by Dr. ANderson and both my eyes are open because at this time I cannot blink at all, I've noticed I'm not light sensitive and couldn't figure it out. Boy, we have some geniuses here on the BB. Thanks for that bit of info. Patti in SC--modified by Patti Miller at Mon, Dec 23, 2002, 22:40:30

Light sensitivity was one of my first symptoms and still is a problem even when my eyes are wide open and Botox and medication is working. It is just a symptom of BEB for many.
