Hi, Ralph,I have similar problems with double vision. Right at the moment I am collecting data for my neuro-op -- an MRI made for me last year -- so that he can approach the problem. My vision is normal within about 30 deg either side of center, where it doubles. Annoying, but nothing I have been concerned about since it doesn't interfere with my driving. (Seeing twice as many oncoming vehicles as are really there makes me drive more carefully!) Certainly not worth giving up my Botox. BTW, how do you get double vision in only ONE eye? Or do you mean that only one has restricted movement? --- Lynn

Hi Lynn. Thanks for your comments. Yes only the right eye has the double vision. And it is mostly in the left half or side, increasing as I look further left. Yes I see double cars and trucks, lights at night of approaching traffic. I can function with an eye patch, maybe I have to take that option. But its scary. Ralph

I hope this doesn't sound too "simple" however I would try a different dr. I think the dr.s technique/angle in which s/he shoots can make a difference. I went to a dr for botox for 2 years swearing that I would never go to anyone else because this dr. kinda "specialized in blepharospasm" and had many patients. She went to alot of support meetings too and spoke so I figured she really knew what she was doing. After getting double vision and less and less effective results from the botox till I didn't get any results at ALL I finally tried a new dr. and I have never had double vision and am getting much better results too! Also, the shots are significantly less painful!!!!!! Wished I'd changed drs a lonnnnng time ago!!!Good luck!

I'm sure I have read that double vision can be caused by the injections being placed in the wrong place. Maybe you should investigate this angle more. Good Luck.

Thanks Christine, I've wondered about that, and the strange thing that I get the double vision in only the right eye. Maybe I'm the assymetrical one. Ralph

I have been getting Botox injections for over 12 years now, from 7 different doctors, and it occurs to me that technique means a LOT in this business. The drs. in my case have been terrific, having been trained by old hands at the business. Only recently have I looked at their technique, and I have found something that is obvious when you finally see it. Doctors, like everyone else, are either right- or left-handed, and very few are ambidextrous. What this means is that when the Dr. injects in the right eye it is at a different angle than for the left eye, and the needle enters the flesh at a different angle, and I suspect it makes a noticeable difference in the placement in the muscle/fat, and also the effectiveness, of the shot.I got my shots two weeks ago, and right now my left eye is very lazy while my right is open, alert, and comfortable. Eventually the left one will catch up, but in the meantime it's really uncomfortable. My early thinking was that more Botox around the left eye might bring it into alignment with the right, but now I am thinking it's much more likely to be the injection angle that is the source of what is really a small difference. What I have learned, I guess, is that we still don't know an awful lot about the effects of technique, and that we can expect that to have a noticeable effect on our eyelids. We are a long way from attaining perfection in what we are doing, and what is being done to us. It's really important, I am learning, to communicate the details of this kind of thing to the Dr., so that s/he can learn from what I have experienced. I hope you are all as involved in this kind of exchange as I am becoming. --- Lynn

Thanks again Lynn. What you have said here makes more sense than anything else. And looking for another Dr may be the answer. Ralph
