Essie,
Hang in there. I just finished reading most of the replies to your first post. This is the place where I found the greatest help. I even stood in church one day to testify to finding this bulletin board as being an answer to prayer!!My experience has been that people just don't understand. Close friends cringe when I describe the shots. I discovered that my original neurologist thought it was all in my head. He wasn't taking me seriously after the first few tests that he did. He finally had me video tape myself so that he could send the tape to a specialist that did Botox injections in Colorado. He allowed the tape to sit on his desk for 4 months before sending it on for referral. It was only after I asked about the tape did he take any action. Thank goodness the neurologist who viewed the tape diagnosed bleph right away. It was a little difficult to get the first appointment because she is so busy but it was worth it. She does a fantastic job and as long as she is in practice I will travel the 100 miles to receive the injections.
I understand your experiences so far. My neck would hurt so bad because I would tilt my head back in order to see through the slits in my eyes to drive. I discovered that if I raised the headrest that it helped to support my head and relieved a little of the discomfort. I stumbled and ran into things when walking outside during bright sunny days. It took a long time to learn that the best thing for me to do on my worst days was not to fight it. I finally told myself that it just wasn't natural to have to tell myself to open my eyes. Even when I did that it was unsuccessful.
Botox has been a big help to me. Sometimes I have had to deal with troublesome side effects but they always eventually wear off. Overall the Botox for me has been worth it.
Good Luck,
Jackie

Jackie, I think that is wonderful that you gave your testimony in church about finding this site. That really cheered me up and reminded me of how important this site is and that is the people that write on it, when they are feeling good , when they are feeling bad, when they get a great DR or a lousy DR, good shot or bad shots. family that understands or doesn't----and you know really I don't think any family member, good friend or anyone else can understand.
Essie, I'll bet everyone on this bulletin board have written when they were down and more than once. I know I certainly have and I boo hoo ed a lot more than you. Guess I'll go eat worms. I'll never be happy or smile again, nobody loves me, more worms. Somehow we get out of it.
I felt that I was useless and just taking up space in the world and before you know it, I had a long list of lonely shut ins who I send cute or uplifting stuff from friends on the bulletin board. I am so slow at doing things now it takes all my free time. I also enclose notes when I can to the loneliest.. If anyone has a cute ,funny or uplifting thing from one to three pages please put your nane on the bulletin board and tell me. I will tell the moderators to give you my email. Ann Doyle

Hi Ann,
Let me know what sort of emails you send and I'll be glad to send some on to you. I have over a hundred and fifty people on my list, so I get lots of good clean emails. I print off the best ones to give to a friend who works at an alterna-care center for the elderly. I also write to four older ladies. One of them turned a hundred in January. If you want some forwards, email me at evied@earthlink.net.
