Hi All,
I just thought I’d relate the results of my Botox treatment which occurred on March 1st. The doctor requested that I keep a diary of events. Nothing happened until the 3rd of March and then my eyes opened wide wonderfully. On the 4th and the 5th it was marvelous altho there were episodes of blurry vision at times but I could put up with that. On the 6th my eyes started to droop a little in the morning and this increased in the afternoon. To date this situation still exists altho when I concentrate on a task my eyes stay open okay for the extent of that task so there is a little benefit from the treatment and I know now that Botox could work for me. It’s early days yet tho. I daresay it will take a few more sessions before the doc finds the right site and dose. Incidentally there are some tears. When I rub the grit from my eyes it starts the tears flowing as if the tear ducts were blocked. I believe someone asked that question some time ago. Thanks Tony |

Tony.....How much Botox did you get....just wondering....I was diagnosed in Jan. and received 50 units then. On March 7th I got my second round of shots....76 units, 14 shots in all and 7 around each eye. It is the 10th and I haven't seen much of a difference yet except for some blurriness occasionally. Just was wondering how much you got. I hope these latest shots do something, even if it's just a little. Good luck to you....
Thanks, Codie |

Great! It sounds like you are well on your way to adjusting to this wierd condition -- not to say recovery, which unfortunately is very unlikely. Stick with the program and it may even get quite a bit better yet. It's also very important not to think, "I'm well now - no need to go back to this doctor," because the condition will inevitably return. Cheers, --- Lynn |

Hi, Tony-
You mention that when concentrating on a task your eyes will stay open. That is 'par for the course' for us BEB'ers. We have talked about that on past pages. For example, I can do accounting work at my desk with ny eyes open. I can also work a jigsaw puzzle. But I cannot watch TV. Many others have the same experience. We're just thankful for what we can get! I'm so glad you have some improvement, and hope for more as time goes along. Keep us updated, and feel free to reply to other posts if you have a suggestion. Best wishes, Marilee |

I get flakes on my eyelashes that go into the eyes if I'm not careful - is that what you mean? They feel like grit sometimes. It can occur (I think) from the eye drops/creams/gels and also from blepharitus (an eye infection sealing up the oil glands) which we can get from touching our eyes and causing the problem. Be careful as its hard to get rid of in the long run. I compress my eyelids (not for a week after botox inejctions) twice a day with warm/hot water cloths - several times, then wash again with diluted bnaby shampoo, before rinsing and patting dry (then adding moisturiser to the eyes). Best wishes June in Toronto |

Hi Tony, Glad for you that the Botox is giving you some relief. Keep working at it ! We blephers will probably never experience perfection, but it really beats the alternative.
Your gritty eyes sound like dry eyes to me. Don't rub them! Drops are important to use after Botox treatment as the lid might pull away from the eye a bit and cause dryness. Dry eye can feel like you hav an eyelash in your eye, too. I wish you all the best. Your doctor sounds good when he asks you to keep a diary. This is a great group here ,many with lots of experience and info that it's a wonderful support! Good luck with your progress! Joan |
