Cherrybrandy,
I don't know about everyone else, I can only tell you what I have experienced. I have only had two rounds of botox injections and I didn't feel any results for atleast 3 days later. It may be because of where the injections were put or how much was used. The doctor told me that I wouldn't feel any results for up to 4 days afterward. If you're concerned, call your doctor. Wishing you the best!!! |

Hi CherryBrandy, I get that for about a week usually, though not until it kicks in after about 3 days. Make sure you keep your eyes well lubricated. If you search back, others have used a heavy gel for night time and some form of sealer, like a mask or even tape to keep the eyes moist. So far, mine have been ok with just the gel. It is not pleasant and can be really uncomfortable, but it will pass. Kathy |

I cannot keep my open ! Maybe they gave you a lot. How many units did the dr. give you? and where? I think they should start with a small dosis and then increase if you need more. That is what they do to me but I need more and some drs. are afraid of giving you to much so then you have a problem like you! BUT, EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT. IS THIS THE FIRST TIME YOU GET BOTOX??? GOOD LUCK! |

Its quite 'normal' for a lot of us after having botox injections for the eyelids not to close properly. This can happen the first day or several days later. Do what Kathy said, seal your eyelids with a good non-preservative lubricant (I use Lacrilube) and cover the eyes with a clean mask. In fact a lot of us find that our eyelids never really.....close anymore completely (they may look like they do), so I use the Lacrilube and mask every single night of my life. best wishes. Hi,
Ditto on what others have said: that after botox your eyes often don't close completely (that is the side-effect of the good effect of botox, that it stops spasms). It's exactly the case that you can feel as if your eyes are closed as tightly as always (for instance, when you take a shower) but they may not be. So get some no-tears baby shampoo to keep on hand to wash your face! (dilute with a little water). Otherwise you may find stinging when you are washing your face, and wonder: 'why did THAT happen? never used to'. I also use something to seal my eyes (GenTeal Gel--not quite as strong a seal as the ones made with petroleum jelly and mineral oil, but I don't like that feel-- When I tried it, sometimes I would get up after lying down, I've forgotten something or something happens, and my eyes are so blurry from the jelly that it's very weird.) So I use a lot of a lighter gel. And I always use a mask, too. The mask will help your eyes stay lubricated (not drying out because they are not as tightly closed, though you may think they are), and also helps keep the light out. Judith K

I don't know if it normal in dystonia but my daugter sometimes can't close her eyes at all.Specially in the night. She can't sleep at all if it happens(without botox injections) During the days her eyes want to stay closed instead.I think that if your eyes don't want to close properly after botox its a problem of weakness and this problem will resolve in a few days .My daughter's problem is apraxia of eyes closing.
take care Dana |

Its all normal--at least for us. I use genteal and an eye mask. Have also resorted to the plastic wrap wrap that other's have suggested, but can usully do okay with the genteal and cutesy little eye mask. I went the round of restassis, but could not get used to the "burning that may go away". My eyes were burning in the first place because they were dry! I have found that even though I may feel I'm going to be okay at night, its just best to go ahead and use the genteal and the eye mask--prevention. |
