Has anyone tried Straterra? My doc suggested it last time as it has so many different doses you can take. She was a little leary of uping my Ritalin to 10mg due to controlled High Blood Pressure. What can you tell me about Straterra. Does it hype you, etc.... I don't like that feeling. pp

I haven't tried Strattera (asked for it, but doc wouldn't give...) Feeling restless is a rare but severe side effect. I'm putting a link to the WebMD side effect page for Strattera.

Another choice, if the Strattera makes you feel bad, is Provigil. It is a wakefulness drug used for narcolepsy, but it is not a stimulant, though it can also make some people nervous or anxious. It worked for me about as well as Adderall (a stimulant similar to Ritalin) I use the Adderall now because it is much cheaper than the Provigil, and my blood pressure is not an issue. It can be hard to get insurance to pay for Provigil if you don't have narcolepsy or MS.

I take 40 mg of Straterra every morning as soon as I wake up. It was originally prescribed to be taken twice a day, but when I tried that, I was up all that night.
It just really helps me. I know others have tried it, and it hasn't worked. We're all different.
I don't get a "hyped up" feeling. I am just am alert, focused, and able to keep my eyes open. It didn't take long to find out if it worked - I noticed the first day that I took it. It helps me in other ways, too. I have some issues with generalized dystonia, and it helps with symptoms that go along with that.

I take Straterra 25 mg in the morning. If I take another one too late in the afternoon, I also am up all night. I've been on it over a year and haven't found any other side effects. My insurance quit paying for it since I don't have ADD. It is a big help for my apraxia as long as Botox is doing it's job. Once Botox starts to wear off, it doesn't help as much.

I had Botox a week ago and at the same time started taking magnesium pills after reading about the liquid magnesium on this BB. The Straterra isn't helping as much as in the past and I am beginning to think it may be because of the magnesium. I need to decide whether to stop taking the Straterra and give the magnesium a good try, or stop taking magnesium. Magnesium is a lot less expensive but I know the Straterra works. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether the magnesium may be interacting with the Straterra and causing it not to be as effective?

I talked w/my doc about magnesium and she said it work on he smooth muscles such as those around the eyes. I think I am going to try it as I find that the Ritalin may work one day and then maybe not the seoond day. kso what I have been doing is taking it only on the days I have to drive long distance or have to deal with the public.

Marlene,

I have BB and Apraxia. Botox wears off in less that 7 weeks. I have a new dr. and she is giving me 4 injections by the lashes. I still have problems opening the lids.

I started taking Ritalin after Rebeca posted her notice. I am doing very well with Ritalin but it is not perfect. I still need botox.

I take 10 mg of ritalin in the morning and after about 4 or 5 hrs I take 5 mg. otherwise I cannot sleep.. Side effects ? I just feel lots of energy. I wonder if you can tell me about your experience with Straterra. Does it stop all the movements on your eyes or does it only relieve some?

Thank you!
