Clonezapam - some relief? | ![]() | ||

I've put off trying my Rx for Clonazepam for a few months. I was nervous about the possibility of bad (or politically incorrect at work) side effects. I had a few "bad days" with my eyes bothering me at the slightest provocation - meetings, phone conversations, TV or just being work. I finally got the courage to try 0.25 MG twice the first day, and then just once a day in the morning. What I noticed was less anxiety and the spasms (and my worries about them) were pushed was back into some dark corner. I know that I will not be able to stay "on" Clonazapam permanently, but it gave some relief. My spouse reports I was a tiny bit spacy or edgy, but that is a lot better than what I was going through before. I should give a caveat that everyone's wiring and chemistry are different; that one persons Rx may be unpleasant for another. I hope to see how the Clonezapam helps for a few more days/weeks. In a few more weeks, I'm due at a new opthamologist. The first I tried may have had issues with injection sites, in any case,I only had a few weeks relief with that Dr's botox sessions. I'm also considering seeing a neurologist, to learn more about my condition. Sure, treatment with botox (and maybe Clonazepam) is great, but I'd like to know the cause(s). Thanks for listening...

Hi, I'm glad you got up the courage to try Clonezapam. It has helped me for more than 10 years. (I find that Botox does not work for me.) I use Clonezapam sparingly.I never exceed .25 mg
and I avoid repeating a dosage until 6 hrs. have passed. For me it is a temporary "fix" that I know will have no lasting effect but it gets me past specific occasions when I need help.(Driving, social events, etc..) And I try not to exceed .75mg in any one day. Body weight might have something to do with the effective dosage size. If it is any help to you I will tell you that I weigh 155lbs. A final word; don't give up on the Botox. Use Clon. only to get you past the rough spots. Men |

The most common side effects of taking clonazepam are sleepiness (until accustomed to the dose) and forgetfulness. The latter I belief is not all that common. Clonazepam can be addictive, so care has to be taken not to be too dependent on it, and it's effectiveness can reduce over time. If one has been on it steadily for a while, the process of getting off it should be one of slow and steady reduction of the dose. That said, it is generally thought of as one of the medications with lower and fewer complications. All the above based on reading, responses here and talking with doctors. Regard it as that, not a professional's statement. peter |

My neurologist had told me when he prescribed Clonazepam only to take the very smallest dose possible to help with the spasms and to not cause side effects. For me, that was very helpful advice. Sometimes I would only need 1/4 of a tablet, sometimes 1/3 tablet. He did not like the idea of prescribing this medication on a scheduled basis. I took it sparingly for about a year or so, until my Botox pattern became more predictable, and I no longer needed it. |

Group-
Thanks for your experiences with Clonazapam. I haven't yet used more than 0.25 mg doses, closer together than 12 hours and no more than 3 doses in a row. It does seem to help with some, not all of my issues. |
