i hope you find an answer to this, have you been tested for MS? i heard that the pins and needles sensation could also be a symptom of that. I don't know if i am being helpful on this or not.

I hope you get answers soon. I had the pins and needles under the left shoulder blade (it actually felt like a knife twisting) and went on Ultram prescription pain killer for a few days until I could start therapy. That is great that she is interested in reading up on BEB. My internal med doc and PA classified me as having an "eyelid twitch" and didn't know you "gave botox for that." Your job must be very challenging but very rewarding as well. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi all. Thanks for your responses. I'm hoping that this new doctor will take all things into consideration, because I know that the symptoms I have can be symptoms of a lot of different problems. I'm just praying that I can give him enough information so that he can get some ideas where to start. I was very impressed with the staff there. The nurse practitioner introduced me to the doctor just before I left. I was in so much pain today that I came straight home after school and went to bed with a moist heating pad. I woke up at 9 and have been up ever since. So, while some of the world sleeps, I write. Thanks for your prayers.

Hi all. Thanks for your help in the way of suggestions and encouragement. I saw the new doctor on Monday and he was familiar with BEB. He had a blood sample taken so he could run several tests. Tomorrow I will have an MRI of the brain. This doctor said if he doesn't find anything he will send me to a neurologist. I'll let you know how the tests come out. I'm taking a muscle relaxant-- Flexeril and that has given some relief to the back and legs.Jeannie from Ohio where it is very cold and snowy.

Kathy, I just saw your post. Actually, nothing really helps. I thought the Flexeril was helping, but I don't think it is. When I tried to explain the pins and needles and pain to the new doctor, I think he was having trouble understanding what I was describing. The pain is sometimes from my buttox to the feet and then sometimes only my calves are affected, and so forth. In the last 7 days I started having pain i my right shoulder blade. The MRI and blood tests all came back normal. The new doctor made an appt for me with a neurologist, but can't get me in until March 3. Jeannie in snowy and cold Ohio

Hi Jeannie,I have had those same symptoms for a little more than a year now, although sometimes it includes extreme pain. After several x-rays, visits to urgent care, plus PCP and orthopedist, it was finally concluded that it was sciatica. I am in a rather mild session of it now. They were so sure it was a blood clot the three or four times I went to the clinic, but nothing proved that. So I'm just using heat and pain pills now. Frustrating, huh!!! Sally in North Idaho where winter has skipped us so far.

Sally, thanks for the info. I am writing down everything people are suggesting and am doing my own research. Will your pain return in full force or will it finally go away? The heat and ibuprofen don't help much. The pain location moves around. Sometimes in my right shoulder blade area. Sometimes the calves of both legs or one. Sometimes the thighs and hips. Jeannie

Hi Jeannie,The pain has been going away for awhile, except for a nudge now and then to let me know it's still alive and kicking, then it comes back for unknown reasone. Sometimes it is full force pain demanding pain killers, and other times it is tolerable/annoying pain. No doctor has associated it with dystonia (I only have BEB/Meige), but I do wonder about that. Sally in North Idaho where we got a little bit of snow today. Will soon be rained away.

Sally, how long have you had these pains? Did you go through a lot of tests? These symptoms can be signs of a number of illnesses so I guess it's hard to diagnose. That's why medicine is an art and not a science.I did notice something today, but since this is the first I noticed it may mean nothing. I usually drink a caffeinated cola for lunch and then again in the afternoon. I didn't drink one at lunch today and noticed that the pains were mild. I had a cola about 5 p.m. When I got home about 7 p.m. my legs and right shoulder blade were hurting a lot. I wish I could find a doctor who would test for lack of vitamins and minerals. I did have a blood test for vitamin B-12 and it showed normal, but that's the only test for vitamins and minerals. Glad you have some relief. Jeannie from Ohio which is having temperatures of 5 degrees F with a wind chill of -15 degrees F. School is called off for the district where I teach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband's first teaching job was as a sub (bad enough) for 11 emotionally disturbed (80's speak) 7th graders--the pits. Ann Doyle

Ann, how long did your husband substitute for that class? Junior high is my favorite age, but I think emotionally disabled kids at that age would be much more difficult. A lot of violence, because these kids have grown up with it on tv and movies and in some of their homes. Does he teach now? Jeannie from the part of Ohio that is having temperatures in the single digits.
