swollen eyelids and bulging blood vessels

I was wondering if anyone has the problem of swollen eyelids. My opthalmologist, Dr. John Burns, noticed about 6 months ago that my eyelids were swollen and wondered if I had high blood pressure. I don't. I asked him if it had anything to do with my BEB and he said it didn't. SO... I asked my primary care doctor and he said that high blood pressure wouldn't cause the eyelids to swell. So now I have two doctors that don't know what it is.

Another thing is that in the past few months I have noticed that my blood vessels bulge on the top of my hands and feet.

I'm just wondering if all of these symptoms, including pins and needles and pain are connected in some way.

All tests-- MRI, blood tests, EKG, venous sonogram-- were normal. Maybe the tests are normal, but I'm certainly not feeling normal. I have an appt with a neurologist on March 3.

I can relate to the frustration of knowing that something is wrong but not getting any answers. Sometimes I have thought that it would almost be better to receive bad news than that tests all come back normal inspite of definite symptoms.

Jeannie...thought you might find the link below interesting. I know we've gome through the thyroid bit before...but you can have throid eye problems with normal thyroid levels. You can get swollen lids with thyroid eye disease.....

Also funnily enough I am having your problem with pins and needles at the moment....however as I have noticed that my feet go blue when I lift them up onto the sofa it appears to be circulation. My GP thinks it may be that though my thyroid levels are "normal"..they may not be quite normal for me....we shall wait and see as we have adjusted my dose of Thyroxine...

Hope this helps...and doesn't just add to your worries!

Thanks for the link, Claire. The only symptom that is mine from that list is swollen eyelids. I copied the info. and will show it to my PCP. I also was checked for blood clots. The bulging blood vessels on hands and feet concern me, but evidently do not concern the doctor.

I am going to resume taking the B-12 and B-Complex vitamins to see if this helps.

I haven't taken any pain medication other than Ibuprofen. I don't even like to take that for an extended time.

I think that a prerequisite for doctors going into specialties should be that they have a disorder they are going to treat. Just think how much faster they would be in finding a solution.

Linda, yes I have received Botox since 1992. However, it was my opthalmologist that noticed this about 9 months ago. He asked if I had high blood pressure and I said, no. I mentioned this to my primary doctor and he said high blood pressure wouldn't cause that. He said allergies can cause that. I don't have allergies. So no one knows or cares.

Do your lids stay swollen all the time or do they get better as you get closer to your injection date? What does your doctor say?

My eylids have stayed swollen since I received the first Botox, but the swelling decreased after a couple months. This time the swelling for me is much more than preivously. Everythign about this last treatment seemed different.

Linda in CA Puffy eyed, but able to see.
