Hi Margo I had Myobloc injections acouple of times.
The first time they worked good. The next not so good.
T he pain is not worth it.The results are better with
Botox a.Hope they work better for you.

Margo, I tried the Myobloc one time, like you it was very painful and it did not help me. I had double vision for approx 2 weeks. It it had worked I would have been glad to go throught the pain. If you have no "problems" associated with the Myobloc try it again. But if you don't have good results - why put your self through that torture. Joyce in NC

I have not needed Myobloc yet, but have read some things about it that you ought to be aware of.As others have written, it stings a lot. If that's a problem for you with Botox, Myobloc will give you fits, I am told. The doseage for B is quite different than for A. A typical dose for A is 50-100 MU; for B it is perhaps 1000 MU. This in theory allows greater fexibility, but since it's going through the same kind of needle, you don't gain much, if anything. The experience your Dr. got in dosing A is not always useful in dosing B. In essence, you have to start over from scratch, so the results from the first two or three trails with B are not likely to be right. As with A when you first started, you have to take it slowly until you and the Dr. get it right. Patience is called for! Anyhow, good luck for a successful treatment. --- Lynn

I have been getting Botox for BEB/Meige every three months for approx. 6 years. My last two sessions, we tried the Myobloc because the Boxtox A was not as effective as it had been in the past. The first try with Myobloc was somewhat successful - eyes opened right up and stayed almost normal for a few weeks. The injections were more painful than the Botox A. My last Myobloc were in December and before the shots, my neuro had me hold an ice pack to the areas to be injected. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Still a little painful, but not at all like the first. I used the ice pack for approx. 15 to 20 min. Again, my eyes opened right up, but the time for near normal eyes was not as long. I did experience some double vision with both the first and second sessions with Myobloc. I am due for my next shots Mar. 5, and my eyes are very blinky and a little watery. I am still trying to find the right combination of whatever for the Meige. Artane really works the best, but I will not use it anymore because of the zombie-like side-effects!
